Ph 2 172 Cup - standard springs / shockers OR upgrade?

  Clio Sport Cup 172
I have read that the bog standard suspension is just as good, if not better than changing the springs but I am unsure and new to this..... was thinking maybe Coilovers would help performance wise and looks? Can anyone help?

Cheers, Tommy B :)

depend what you want out of the car and what you use it for??
if your going to the bother of changing parts then might aswell go for an upgrade imo

would like it to handle, as I feel it does now but just look better?
I had a lowered VTR few years back and the bumps were ridiculous I really cba with that again but would like my car to look better.
Cheers.

Eibach springs and standard shocks gives you a setup pretty much like standard - you can go a bit lower on the sportlines if you want without really sacrificing handling.

If you just want lowering, then coilovers are the obvious choice, but for an upgrade either Eibachs + Koni Adjustables or higher end coilovers (e.g. ASTs).

I found a straight change to Eibach pros to be a bit better on handling and lot better on ride comfort, less roly poly on fast corners as well. They don't lower by much, 10mm. at the front and nowt on the rear as my oe's were sagging anyway. Didn't change the shocks at all, still on oe's. I bought mine 2nd hand so cost me £100 and fitted them myself, easy job. If you want to lower more then you'll be looking at coilovers but at more cost and you will be able to get the ride height just as you want.
Don't assume lowering will improve handling and performance, it's not always true. there are more factors involved and costs as well.
