ph1 172 decat options

will be looking at decatting the 172 in the near future, just wondered what my options were.

Dont want silenced, but it must be for the ph1 172.

Only know of the k-tec offering currently.
I'm aware yozzasport do one but as far as i know it doesnt fit the ph1.

Cheers
Tom

You will need to check how many sensors your PH1 has on the cat as some have two and therefore you have to buy the decat for the PH2.

I've told you allready mr topgear:), just go for the k-tec one, afterall it's just a piece of bent pipe.
On mine the k-tec one fitted like a glove, it has no welds apart from the ones at both ends for the flanges, and they make them for Ph1&2 so you cant go wrong.
They're lovly pieces of kit, nowt bad i could say about them

Oh s**t! lol just realised who it is.

I was thinking i hadnt posted on here about decats before then it dawned on me!

I'll probably just go down the k-tec route as its the easiest and seemingly best option.

Just wondered if there were any other sellers.

Hope things are well mate

i've got a custom one that is flanged just after the antiroll bar for easy access if i need to swap it over for VOSA reasons. so could look at custom manufacturers

Middo's is a work of art TBF and it sounds fantastic....

that does sound rather good.

Had heard the cat placement on the ph1's made the front bolts very difficult to get at. Dont fancy having to mangle my arms every time an mot comes round.

Did you go to an engineering fabricators or a powerflow type place?

JP exhausts in Macclesfield but you'll need to tell them you want custom one as if you ask for a ph1 decat they wont make it. They are under license to Yozzasport, who DO sell a ph1 Decat.

tbh he only agreed to do mine as a test mule as he had no idea if it would work. so no idea if they would agree to make another. but its something any decent exhaust place could knock up

Right, i had heard of that arrangement, thanks for the advice.

When you say its flanged after the ARB, have you added something onto the original downpipe to extended it beyond the ARB, or is it double-flanged if that makes sense to extend one of the joins back to an easily accesible position?

  Chocolate Bar™
its not had any modifications, other than the actual flange joint. so its the original shape if thats what your getting at

sorry i wasnt massively clear with my last post, what i was meaning was what is different about it when you say its flanged after the arb - how is this possible as presumably it still has to have some sort of attachment at the original point at the end of the downpipe

Imagine you have a decat or normal cat in place. Once it passes the ARB, you cut it and put a flange on each end so effectively making a smaller decat, within the decat If that makes sense?

thanks for that man, thats what i was meaning by saying it was double-flanged, a crap description i know!

Thanks once again, i'm going to see if a local zorst place near me could do something similar. They use mandrel bends and its all stainless so i dont suppose it could turn out too bad.
