Ph1 172 Dials in a Mk2 RS

Right, had a go at knocking up some ph1 172 dials to go in mine.

Chris asked for some pics the other day and by all means these arent finished but here they are:

As you can see these are broken (the clips) but only for demonstration purposes. The blue 172 Cup rim will be going red to match my interior bits that I'm painting.

What I did was to get some ph1 172 dials and donor dials from a 1*2 which happened to be a 172 Cup. I cut out the warning light arrangements and swapped them over. There is quite a margin error for this with where the rim overlaps the dials.

I will be swapping over these dials and rim (once painted) with mine when all done. So the broken items will not be used.

Haha, yeah I see what you're saying but I don't like the Lockwood dials. Look a bit pants. Really like the ph1 dials as they have RS stamped on them and look more OEM and standard.

you do know ph1 dials won't work in a ph2 or the other way round. or have you just fitted the white bits?

Yes I have only adapted to use the white dials and not anything further.

ah thats ok as i fitted ph2 clocks along with the ph2 dash in my ph1 and had to change back to the ph1 clocks due to not having the fly by wire imputs.

Still sat on the dining table! (Aka the workshop). Want to get Nathj to spray the little surround red when I'm back in N. Wales.
