ph1 172... Sold:(
My 172 (ph1, 2001, 42k) has decided that it's not so keen on starting up anymore.
The symptoms are:
The starter turns over fine, nice and strong (so prob not battery/alternator)
It doesn't cough or splutter, and when it does catch it idles, and then drives, just fine.
It can Take 5-6 good cranks before it catches, but funilly, after all the turning over, there is no loss of response or power, and no smell of excess fuel coming through.
I'm going to do the plugs as they're due anyway, other than that had the 'big' service done when I bought the car 18 mths and 13k ago, and a minor in-between times.
I'm thinking fuel pump relay, anyone got any other ideas? I know crank (TDC) sensors can be an issue, but the otherwise fine running would seem to say this isn't the issue?
