PH1 Exclusive rear Sills ..

After a few yrs off the road but mainly kept under a canopy/ car port I thought I'd remove my rear door cars and check to see the rear sills ..The car underneath ( around 2018 ) was complimented by the now shut down Renault specialist "Birchdown" .as being one of the cleanest and solid Ph1 chassis he'd seen for a long while ..All I'd use it for was Hillclimb/sprinting ..Then Covid came and it was literally parked up under cover and then I purchased a 172 cup , so the Exclusive wasn't used ..the last mot ran out in Dec 2021 ...the rust as per pictures is what I found ..
Not too bad imo considering ..the rear Arch and petrol cap has zero rust ( unlike my Cup) ..I've had a good prod on both sides with a screwdriver and it feels solid , ...And getting my in head as far as I can see to the front under the doors looks Rot free .
Opinions please 🙏..(I've got Bilt Hamber left over from when I did my Cup )

Not the worst I’ve seen. Hydrate80 will stop the surface rust but it’s down in the seam which is the problem. Once it’s in between that, it’s just a matter of time.

I’d agitate it with a wire brush, then stick some Hydrate 80 on it. And as above, whip the skirts off and repeat. I’ll tell you what works pretty well, BH Dynax S 50. It has the same rust preventing properties as Hydrate 80 and works its way into small cracks. Worth a try imho.

Thanks for the replies ..what I've got is dynax UB and hydrate 80 ..so I'll take off the skirts , check them then treat the internal rust ...there's only so much you can do to it I suppose ..1 thing is certain on these models is rust on the sills 🥴

Yeah it’s certainly a challenge. I’d still invest in some S50 though. A can with a flexible lance is only £17. The UB is good but I use it for underbody protection. The S50 is thinner and creeps into seams and cavities. It won’t harden in the way UB will, so will self heal if it’s disturbed. I’ve been blown away how good it’s working on my RB which sits outside all seasons.
