Phase 1 172 gearknob

Does anybody know how the gearknob can be removed from 172 ph1? It's lookin a bit tatty as they do but can't budge it at all???

is it on a thread then? ive had an oil filter strap on it and still nothing but getting a short throw shaft soon so probably not worth doin

Nah, no thread. I think it is a combination of bonding and friction. A big pair of grips should sort you out.
