Phase 1 ECU run Phase 2 lump

  Revels Mum & Sister

I have a 93 (K) Clio 16V. Think my engine may be going to valver heaven!! Assessing my options at the moment.

BAsically I have found a low Mileage engine from a 95 (N) 16V. Will my Phase 1 ECU and loom work fine with it or do I need the ECU as well? Not sure if there are any difference between the cars, engine management wise.

Any help is greatly appreciated

why do you say your engine is going dead??

mk1 valver is diferent of mk2... dont know about ecus even thou they look pretty much the same.

mk1 doesnt have a lambda sensor or cat, so ecu doesnt read O2 from exhaust... no closed loop.

mk2 has got the mentioned above and a 5º inj for cold starting. This inj can be found just under the inlet manifold near to the inlet buterfly.

good luck.

My Phase 1 Valver has a Cat and Lamda sensor mate. I had a decat for a while and fitted it myself.

Will have to ring K-TEC then I guess unless anyone else knows any different!

if its just the engine your going to run and you use your inlet and exhaust manifold, then your ECU will run the engine fine.....

only the electrics may differ, but if your only using the block and head then it wont be a problem.

the early clio 16v ECUs are different from later ones, but that is all i know, my "early" 16v ECU is running a complete williams 3 engine with just the hill power fueling chip, but there is one left over plug just buy the throttle body, never found what it did and never had a problem, i assuming now it could bo to do with the 5th injector, but i dont think it can be cause my old "early" 16v inlet manifold has got the 5th injector!
