Yeah i'm hoping to get a lot of good shots, i really need to slow down when i'm away and be more aware of what's happening around me even on the small things as i tend to walk past them. Experience will get me there. I've got quit a lot of places to go to like, got 8 on my list for eg the Liver Birds, Museum, the docks, titanic memorial, St geroges hall, the library. All a short walk of the hotel. It did put me off the rain as i just looked more rain tomorrow. I'm really hoping to do a long exposure at night of the Wheel all lit up with a bit of water and lit up buildings next door, the wheel is a smaller version of the london one. I'll have a pop round some parks too if i have time. You should still manage to get some decent shots in the rain and if it's cloudy on Monday then that's good for your 10 stop ND.
See what happens any way and go with the flow, be really happy if i can get a night shot of the wheel and try and get a sun set shot too on something. Not going for a sun rise lol too early for me.. Should have a bit more experience when the darker nights come around.Just be weary if its raining too much you'll get drops on your lens. You can get rid of them in post but its a ballache!
The wheel is a fair bit smaller than in London but its still a good shot. Probably best going the other side of the canal (you'll know what I mean when you get there) or the far end of the Echo arena. If there's something on, the arena lights up too I think.
I'd try to get to the top of the Anglican cathedral too if you can, some really nice views from the top although it all depends on the weather. The other cathedral is pretty decent too (Paddy's Wigwam)
Good luck, hopefully you'll get some decent shots.
Which picture?
How much you wanting for the 10-20mm Aaron, I'm thinking of getting a second hand lens and later on get a Canon 17-40mm when I get more cash.Just ordered the Zenitar 16mm 2.8 - should be here for July 1st in time for my trip to Cornwall. Not sure if I'll get stung for import duties but even if I do, it's still a bloody cheap lens.

Going to sell my Sigma 10-20 and my Canon 550d as I'm not using them so the lens is paid for.
I've not thought about it much but they are going on eBay for around 170-200.
My mate has said he's interested if I do sell it but I'll be asking him later when he intends to buy it.
If it's still there and you're interested, I'll give you second refusal if you want.
Yeah from what people have been saying on here and looking online they do which is good like for a selling point of view not buying lol as you want it cheap  The 6 will do me but the 5 having duel slots and more focus point system would be nice to go for like. Plus the 5 is 100% and the 6 is 97% as in the frame i don't what the term is called. It is annoying when you take a shot and it comes out slightly different on the lcd display than the fiew finderI think they are about 350 new. Lenses hold their price.
If you are going to go full frame then I'd not bother getting a new wide (ie the 10-20) lens for you crop as it's unlikely to work with your new body. I'm not convinced you'll see much of a drop in price for the 5
So your giving your photos to a paper to sell?My Picture in the Journal 16.06.2015 by Mark Geddes, on Flickr![]()
one of my pictures ended up in the Journal on the 16th June , i didn't know it was in it until my parents told me about it. I sent 2 more pics to the papers and TV people by email by very rarely get a response of them.
I did notice on the bottom of the feature if you ring this number you can but pictures of them, would be nice if they can give me some of the money 😧
I didn't even know when i saw the paper for myself today i was shocked when i saw it at the bottom of the paper, ring this number and you can buy the pictures featured. I'm going to stop sending my pictures to papers now i think. Better off getting money in my pocket than theirs. So your giving your photos to a paper to sell?
By the Rocks at Shields by Mark Geddes, on Flickr![]()
I have no idea why my pics look so different esp this one. It looks like a painting, i've been doing the editing on emelents 11 and been editing them as i should be doing it. Is it due to the ND big stopper filter or my camera? i'm clueless. Could be down to the water splashing over the rocks, confusing the camera??
I assume you are talking about the water near the bottom of the frame? It's 100% down to the ND filter and nothing to do with the editing, in my opinion. It's a 2 second exposure so you will get most of the movement. If you had left it for 30 seconds you would have just had a flat sea. It's a good shot.
Post the original, unedited, I assume it will be the same, just in colour.
Alright, thanks but i'm quit fussy lol still improvements to be made. My flat mate has a brdige camera Nikon but i've noticed it's quit limited on camera settings on functions than my 500D. never looked back at my 500D i'm still amazed and pleased i got the right camera it's done me very well indeed. Still only done 9300 still photos too and it's 4 years old. You'll be pleased to go for a DSLR. A lass at my photography class had a bridge but ended getting a DSLR a few months after getting it at it limited her to what she can do with it. She ended up getting a Canon 100D iirc or the 1000DNice pic Gedi, I've ventured into this thread but never really commented, The other half bought me a bridge camera for my birthday as I've been wanting to get into photography for a while but have never made the step. I'l be buying a SLR very soon, I'm amazed at some of the shots the bridge takes and can't wait to see how much better an SLR would be.
