Photography in London.

Am going into London over the weekend to use the camera and practise more, however I don't know London a great deal. I know it's a big place, but im looking at interesting places to shoot, without being too touristy, if that makes sense?

I found this website that has given me some ideas but thought I'd post on here to see if someone else has suggestions.

I will be coming on the tube from Epping so I'll be getting on the central line. In the link is a great idea outside St. Paul's so I'll probably get off there and go from there onwards.

I can only really give you timing advice on 19 & 26. Best time to take photos on campus is in between lectures as it means less students in the way. Lectures are usually 9-11 am, 11-1 pm, 1-3 pm, 3-5pm. In regards to the foot tunnel, the best times are 9:30 - 11:30 am and 1 - 2:30 pm. You can get good photos of the campus on the other side of the river (Isle of Dogs) as the tunnel entrance/exit is in a park.

No worries mate :smile: If you're willing to venture to East London on your way back, you could get decent shots of planes at City airport (good place to get close up to them taking off/landing is next to the Tereza Joanne) and the Thames barrier park isn't too far from there either.

My plan is to get up super early, perhaps even the first train from epping which is just after 5am.

I've narrowed it down to (hopefully) visit on this trip:

Greenwich foot tunnel
Canary Wharf (Area and also the Crossrail Bridge)
Leadenhall Market
Millennium Bridge
St. Pauls Cathedral
Lloyds building

Hopefully It'll be quiet at that time. I just dont know what order to do it in. Any ideas? Recommendations?

Well i went into london. As planned i got the first tube and arrived outside St. Paul's at 6am. I managed to hit the spots i wanted, even though halfway through i had a huge headache and wanted to go home! I also got asked to move on 3 times during the trip, and the police around Canary wharf had a good word with me as i must have looked suspicious with my tripod as well. I guess with the recent happenings in Westminster, they don't want to take any chances.

Anyway, here is a few pics of what i got, in no particular order:

Nice set. I'll have a proper look when I'm on my laptop.
I need to do a London trip but to get the early train in and late one back it's close to £100 if booked well in advance.

London offers such a variety. Im lucky that its only about half hour away by car and less on the overground which is 5 in walk from me but i wanted to get there early and that meant the earliest was 5:10am by tube from epping, which was 15min drive from me at that time.
