Pick Me a Tyre From These 3...

  Add me 2 ur PS3 - Lylak
I need a set of 4 195/45/16 for my 172 so which should I go for, bearing in mind the time of year.

TOYO T1R - £45.50 fitted.

Vredestein Sportrac 3's £52 fitted.

Goodyear Eagle F1's GSD3's - £65 fitted.

I don't do trackdays but do push the car now and again. I only do about 6k a year in the car.

A poll would be nice if at all possible.

Cheers all...

I dont think you can beat Toyo especially for that price.
Ive used them on a few of my hatches. Only 2nd to Yoko Parada's in my experience.

Vredestein are good tyres. Very underrated imo. Im really pleased with the ones Ive got, ultrac sessantas, not on a clio though.

Stories I've heard:

F1's: very good, varied reports of wearing away fast.
T1R's: pants in the wet (not good for approaching winter).
Vredesteins: Heard nothing but good from them, close to F1's in grip.

Spooky - pretty much the same position I'm in at the moment. I'm interested in the Vredesteins as I've heard a fair amount of turbo'd Jap stuff uses them. If they can take that kind of abuse, then our measely little Clios should be fine. :)

Steveo off v6Clio.net has them on his Mk1 Vee as well. Seems to rate them very highly.

Couldn't get vredesteins at my local supplier so it was between the T1R's and F1's. Toyo's at £62 or F1s for £72.

Went for what the general concensus seems to suggest and booked in for 4 x F1s tomo afternoon.

Hopefully the road will feel like Velcro from now :)

i have eagal f1's and they are REALLY grippy on the road. when it comes to track tho they seem to lose alot of it after about 10 min..... and they wear REALLY fast!

PE2's great on road wet or dry but not cheap but do wear very well

Pzero Nero cheap, grip well wet and dry not sure how they wear but do scream a bit in the dry when provoked

1. Goodyear Eagle F1's GSD3. Very good all-round road tyre, ran them on my Cup for ages and more than happy.
2. Vredestein Sportrac 3. Been getting good reviews and I know a few people who have run them and been happy with them.
3. TOYO T1R . Don't rate them at all.

F1s all the way, won't use anything else personally. No idea what people do to them who moan about wearing quickly, i've never had a problem with them even the fronts on my 225 lasted 10k.

  S3, Polo
F1's or T1-R's.

Never heard of the other brand.

Considered PS2's? Can you still get them?

Wouldn't touch Parada Spec 2's again, not least because they're *shocking* in the wet...

I'm loving my T1-Rs, especially so in the wet. Find that in dry they are as good as the conti sport 3s that the car came with but in the wet far more readable

Over the past 6 months I've used F1's, T1R's, Toyo PX4's, now on Hankook V12's (read this before judging http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2009-Auto-Zeitung-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm).
The T1R's are good in the dry, hideous in the wet.
PX4's are awful regardless of conditions.
F1's are very good.
The Hankooks are shaping up well. Still bedding in, but the generate more wet traction than the F1's. £50 a corner, 205/45 R16.
