I can't split the bead, there are 5 steel rings around each bead which I can't get to, any ideas.

Also, my old boy reckons i've destroyed the grinding disc by cutting rubber. Apparently it could shatter now, any truth in this as he tries to p!ss on my parade whenever I try anything?

My point entirely. His argument was that the rubber will clog the disc, cause it to spit in an offset fashion and shatter! I've heard of it happening when a disc is fractured but not through cutting rubber.

I tend to ignore him.

Tips? give up..

I tried to cut through a tyre that the missus needed to use as a project, she only wanted a quarter of the tyre. It wasn't on a wheel and it was impossible, ON a wheel is a task for superman! lol

Ive had a hacksaw through an old tyre before, get on with it! Pain to do without damaging the wheel though.

Only had to do it once, one had blown out and the machine couldnt get it off, got there in the end, was persistant!!!

Also helps if you can get someone to push down either side of where you're trying to cut aswell, stops the disk getting bogged down in the rubber. Rather not me though!

Why not just take it to a garage and get them to remove it, my dad had his 2 wheels removed and replaced for a fiver as the boy was jus an apprentice.

the grinding discs r designed for a purpose.

if you use a metal disc to cut wood or plastic it clogs all the holes up in the disc resulting in air burst or something where the disc shatters and youd prolly have a few bits of disc stuckin your face.

If the bead is trickey cut a 'V' in the rubber, down to the bead, imagine a cake with a wedge missing.

Then at least you'll have room to see the bead properly and make a better attempt from there.
