plastic sorround on sunroof, removel

  182

My sunroof is leaking loads now my central locking and alarm has stopped working done a search on the matter which has helped alot what i want to know is how do i remove the plastic bit of the sunroof without damaging the roof does it just pop off wih a bit of force?

Once ive got that off do i just run the silicone sealant around the area and pop the plastic bit back in?

is it as easy as that?

the last thing i want to do is start it only to relize ive messed things up and cant finish so if anyone can guide me threw the entire operation i would be most greatful!!

cheers

Rob.

before you do it check that its not the ariel

i replaced mine and then found out that it was the ariel just needed tightening up even though it seemed tight.

well not an easy job

i replaced mine a while back and it was a nightmare

you have to take the head lining out of the inside of your car and undo every bolt around the sunroof.

you have to take the motor off thats easy

and then it should just pop up

i say its a nightmare but mine was only a nightmare because i replaced it and the sunroof is actually held in place and bolted on to that bit of plastic.

hope this helps

i would get a new seal because mastic is a pain to remove if you have to take the frame out again.remove the roof lining trim, remove interior light/trims,remove sunroof moter, pull down roof lining slightly, undo the 16 10m frame bolts, pull of the drain pipes at the front corners and lift out the roof from the top.

had exactly the same prob, so what i did was grabbed some clear sealant, a hairdryer and put sealant on the inner seals and then masked off around the outside and put the sealant around the edges, i do have pics if u want em
