plastidip as good as a Re-spray?

Seen this method around quite a lot now and I don't really get it : s is it just matte colours or can you make it look like shiny and that really confused if someone could help

You can order shiny but I think more limited colours.

What aspect of your car were you looking to 'dip'?

Must admit plastidip is something I was considering for my wheels actually. They're not awful but you can tell they weren't loved by the previous owner(s) so after two months of owning my wee blob of 182 I'm taking it upon myself to sort the problem. Plus I want it to look like a beast in the summer!

Friend of mine recently 'dipped' the mirrors and alloys on his Alfa and I must admit it looks very tasteful (I'll find a photo for you sometime) but I'm not sold on the 'matt-look' for the petals on my 182. You can get a glossifier for plastidip though easy enough off their UK site. If you're confused about applying it then just Youtube a few tutorials. Loads of people out there use this stuff.

Only considering this because a full restore in shiny anthracite will set me back £280 and just upgrading to a set of Turinis is near as makes no difference - double. Where as 5 cans (I'd look like such a tw*t if I ran out after 4) of plastidip gun-metal grey plus a sunny day of my time will set me back £50 and act as a temporary measure till I can reasonably justify throwing another few hundred quid at the car.

Plasti-Dip is a great temporary/semi permanent way of changing your car's colour. Although doing an entire car you will need to keep an eye on it and keep it maintained.

I sprayed my wheels on my old Astra coupe in Matt Black last summer. I used half a can per wheel, but really you should use a whole can per wheel. It's great stuff! Stayed on brilliantly for about 8 months then I peeled it off - no hassle. Looked great, I would love to do entire car in it. You can apply yourself with a spray gun and a decent environment. And when you're bored of it just peel it off

If you wanted to do your alloys... What about scuffs? Need refurbing before or do it? Or is it a case of spraying more on damaged bits. Sorry if its a silly question know nothing about plastidip.
