play in steering wheel, moves up and down

slight noises when i turn the wheel i think something is catching

it moves up and down slightly i dont know if its always done this but when i put pressure on it pushing it up the way and turn the wheel it doesnt click or seem to feel as if its cathcing on anything

if i took the wheel off would i be able to see what is causing the noise or would alot more need to be taken off

as per other thread, if the movement is definitely in the column, i'd suspect the column bearings or the universal joint. should be easy enough to check the UJ with an assistant. to check the column bearings, i think you'd need to strip the plastics away from the column to be able to see

there's another UJ under the car. few things it could be

the garage looked at everything under the car couldnt see anything wrong

as for checkin doing things myself bit of a novice, as long as its safe for now will just live with it but at least its not gonna be too costly to fix
