Please help coolant black

Please can anyone help me I have a clio sport 2000reg I bought it few months ago the coolant is blacky brown and stinks of fish I rang the garage to see if they will take it out but they said they won't touch it and said nowadays people use a special one that is browny as my car has injection but tbh i think it needs changin my oil looks abit darker aswell what can I do it needs to be all taken out

What garage told you people use brown coolant, the garage you purchased the car from?

What engine does your car have? You say a sport but that can be a 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 or a 2.0 depending on how pedantic you are.

And first things first, i'd get a reliable garage to change the oil and oil filter for good quality stuff, and get them to do a coolant change. Flush out the system and refill with GENUINE Renault coolant. It's bright luminous green.

Hey I have a 1.4 16v
It was a garage that has done work to loads of family cars I also spoke to another garage they said the same thing and said its something to do with French cars and it can f**k the whole thing up I'm confused I thought they will just take it all out..is it easy to do myself I've done few bits before but not like that

It's very easy to do yourself but bear in mind you'll have to dispose of nearly 10 litres of dirty shitty fluids.

A garage shouldn't charge any more than £100-150 absolute tops to do the job.

Coolant smells like piss anyway, had the pleasure of smelling it today.

You say your coolant is brown, is it actually brown or a dull red?

Oil goes black over time, the best way to tell if your oil needs a change is from mileage, if you have your service book when was it last changed? if you don't know best bet is to get it changed.

It's browny but some bits look black it looks like it needs changing a lot different to my old clio I bought the car off a guy and hasn't got the service history I was going to get it serviced soon tbh but have my mot in few weeks eeekkk :/ ill try get a pic but its dark so have to be tomorrow

Do you know if the cam belt has been changed?

Best off doing a service on it then, new oil, coolant, maybe air filter etc.

It's done 62k so don't think it has it won't let me upload a picture oh I need a new air filter its bit dirty found that out the other day when my back box went and all fibre came out the exhaust don't have much luck with clios tbh

I would go with getting it fully serviced, especially as you say it has no history with it.
