possible head gasket failure

Car  Clio 16v
possible head gasket failure - it smokes white smoke from cold (does clear up when warm though) and the water level has dropped slighty (but not much). However, there are no signs of mixing, either water in the oil, or vice versa, the car doesn't overheat (no matter how long it's standing running for) and it still drives fine, It's only done it in the last couple of days, but i can't see it being anything else, but again, it still drives fine, and displays none of the other symptons normally associated with head gasket leakage?

I posted a similar thread the other day actually. I think it was mainly condensation where I hadn't drove my car for a while. My car seems fine now as I've been driving it regularly again but I had exactly the same symtoms as you. You probably need to drive it a bit.

the smoke coming out when cold is just water thats collected in the exhaust system being heated up, hence why once its warm it doesn't do it.

Just go for a blast to make sure you get the exhaust system heated up nicely :)

i remember reading something about the car running lean or rich causing the white smoke, cant remember which one lol
