Possible new owner.

  ST TDCI
Hi all,

Have been a die hard peugeot hot hatch owner over the years with numerous 205's and 306's. My current drive is a bianca 306 Rallye which is nice car but have been offered a swop with a 51 plate 172 in Monaco blue with FSH so i am now mulling over the deal!

I have had a renault before a Williams Clio 2 which was an absolute cracker!

Need to find the buyes guide and common problems and have a good read.

Only prob is i have never been in or driven one before so I am a bit wary of getting the first car I see.

Anyway hi again and maybe will see you soon in a Renault.

Dave.

Well first drive in a clio sport today a FF 05 plate 182 - and yes i was impressed - I really like the kick @ 5k and then it just pulled really hard round to the redline - had to be a bit carefull as the girl from the garage who came out with me was a bit scared i think! I said it goes well and as she was hanging onto the jesus handle she said she didnt realise how well it went as other times she had been out in it nobody had driven it like that......lol

Liked the seats nice and supportive - the steering wheel was knackered - no real surprise i suppose. Handling felt good, very direct, very responsive couldnt really explore as i had a passenger and it was raining.

A/C seemed a bit poor, not that cold regas needed probably. Loved the anthracite wheels but the front drivers was seriousley marked, car had 91k on it and they wanted £3600....bit steep - might go back and have another look around.

I will probably end up with a ph2 172 sport and as I have yet to look at one how much different really are they from the 182?

Cheers Dave.

ITG do panel filters, thats what i have in mine. Looks good, i like the monaco 172s.

Hope you don't mind dragging this thread up but as reading it i realised that the 182 you test drove is now mine lol! Bought it a week ago for £3200. They gave it a service, inc new rear shocks, front discs and pads and funnily enough re-gassed the aircon :)

I'll get some pictures up of it n another thread. I've put a few hundred miles on it and it's filthy at the moment. Bloody weather.

Your's looks nice, i had a look at a flame red 03 172 but was a bit pricey, not much less than i paid for the 182 and similar miles.

Cheers!

Ah nice one - thought I had'nt seen it for a few days - is a nice car and that 5k kick is:cool: lol on the aircon!

Will have to arrange a mini Yeovil meet - Daz rt on here has just picked up a ph1 172 and i guess there are a few more around.

Any plans for it? Headlights were a bit murky iirc, have a look at my thread on the 3M kit you can get which sorted mine out a treat, if you need a hand or advice just shout.

Cheers Dave.

The 5k kick is nice yea:)

It needs a few things doing like the headlights for eg. And i do intend to do them as the results i have seen on here with that 3m kit are pretty fantastic to be fair. Also the front headlight washers leak, but again seen a cheap fix on here. I already fixed the annoying as hell rattly parcel shelf hehe.

The wheels are scuffed, and i added to that the otherday:(. The main problem is that the front tyres were 195's, which gave no protection to the wheel atall. This morning i had new 205 uniroyal rainsport 2's on the front. Can instantly see the difference. And will get the wheels refurbed in the new year. Oh and yes the steering wheel is melted to hell. But i spotted a member here that does a real nice retrim. Again that's for the new year.

Other than that all seems good. It's got a scorpian exhaust, which i was worried about being loud when i first spotted it. But it's not loud at all so would recommend it if anyone was after something quiet. There's also cd changer under the passenger seat that i didn't know about untill a few days ago. Wasn't advertised and it works :) Bonus lol

Cheers!
