Possible wheel bearing??

Would like some advice on what you guys think this could be....

Basically when I'm driving theres a loud whurring noise, like a knackered wheel bearing, gets very loud at speeds over 40/50mph with the noise still being there when rolling in neutral, and tbh sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. The noise literally over powers my exhaust and music!!!

Only issue is, the rear discs and bearing were replaced a year ago and theres no movent in the wheel when jacked up and pushing against it, also when spinning the wheel when its up, theres no distinctive noise....

Could this still be a wheel bearing or possibly anything else? Im taking into my mates garage so he can get it up on the ramp and take the wheels off etc, but would like an opinion of whether it could be anything else?

Could well be. Mine's doing it again and I'm only 99% certain that it's the bearing on the offside rear that's making the noise - as that noise stopped the last time I swapped out the rear discs!

Part of the rear bearing setup is a little fiddly - and get that wrong and the bearing wears prematurely. I believe that that's what I did the last time as it was myself that replaced the rear discs approx 2 years ago. Next time I'm handing it to a specialist to make sure that it's done correctly and not via my sausage fingers!

Going off what you say, it does sound like the bearing is on its way out...

Mines is in he garage getting looked at (just now ), I had a knocking noise when rolling, and also a grinding/whirring noise when at 50/60mph which drowns out my miltek, - guys are inspecting and said it appears to be cracked rear discs - possibly due to overheating, which may mean an issue with calipers. Which all in all means new calipers/discs/pads - which means financial devistation lol - fingers crossed its not as bad.

Thought I should just add to thread as it sounds like something similar to OP's description, hopefully not though

Most likely a wheel bearing, when you get it on the ramp, start spinning the wheels round, and you'll know which wheel it is, as the noise is very noticeable.

Shot wheel bearing gets louder when loaded more. Just drive through corners or in a circle => if it gets louder on right handers, it's the left bearing and vice versa. I would change both bearings (better to get complete discs). Mind the little spacer behind and correct torque for the central nuts (175Nm).

Could be a dry bearing or over tightened hub nut.

Ok cheers guys for your advice , worst case scenario could it be anything else?
