Already have a project that hasnt progressed much so another shell was definitely not planned.

Was looking for parts for my white shell so agreed to buy front subframe , arms and resr beam along with clutch and a pair of driveshafts.

Then i got tempted on some other parts !

Had to get the car rolling so i had to take a set of hubs , suspension and wheels to get it rolling.

Wasnt to bad a job but had to get this done before my friend arrived with his truck.

My friend was even puzzled why i would go to this effort just to get a "Clio shell"

But on arrival he even said i was expecting a piece of turd so i guess this his is way pf saying he liked it.

Not had a chance to really look at the car as we literally got it tuesday then its been dark everynight.

Need to do a list of things i need to get it running.

He wasnt running the dash clocks so had various guages and was using a phone and rev counter so may need to retrofit dash clocks and i dont have sender units and wiring and dont like the idea of not having dash clocks.

Also i dont have an ECU as he was running aftermarket ECU with bodies making 249bhp !

Assuming i need to use uch , ecu and key from a matching car or i would need to send off an ecu to be viginised ?

Inside the car as it is , ive emoved the passenger footrests but will be putting it back in.

Not sure why they chose that location for a bulkhead power connector as it’s liable to get a direct earth off the ex mani in a front end impact.

The lhd servo mounting position is definitely the better place as it’s relatively protected.

Looks a pretty good spec shell though tbf mate!

So im starting to do afew hours now and then , Since Covid my girlfriend has been living at mine so i cant spend the time i want to at the moment 😂😂

My donor car ive had along time which was meant to be my full on track car but never really happend !

Needed to put the sunglasses on to protect my eyes 😂 Not sure what i was thinking when i got all this powder coated 10 years ago.

Will be getting these bits re powder coated a different colour as this wont go with the red bodywork and the blue hoses will get sold as i will be going a different colour.

Front slam panel removed , just going to get as much out or out the way.

Radiator and hose kit removed.

Powder coat doesnt look so bad in the pics but it is starting to deteriorate. Got epas on the red shell so will have a power steering pump for sale which has done less than 500 miles ! Car has literally spent it life doing nothing !

Still miss my blue RB182 which was pretty much standard apart from the exhaust. I do wonder if i should put a interior in the white shell so its kind of a nice b road car but would be alot of work and alot of bits i dont have !

Blue hose kit removed , Will give this a clean up prior to selling.

Alternator kit removed , and PAS reservoir drained and removed.

Wiring loom tucked to one side and ECU and brackets removed.

This is how ive left it for today , manifold bolts have been removed and all fluids drained.

Will remove driveshafts , hubs and front suspension tommorow.

Did abit more on the strip down. Shafts , hubs etc all removed ready for engine removal.

Had an issue with my engine crane , not sure if the bolts had loosened or just failed but bottom bolts bent ! Noticed they are only 4.4 rated , its the 2 that fix to the base 🤔

All abit slow with not being able to give much time at the moment but no massive rush with Covid etc and not being in a garage. Hoping to do abit more after work when it gets abit lighter

What's a power steeing pump cost these days? I'm pretty sure mine is the source of the screaming noise I can't drown out with the radio🙉😆.

It was purely for trackdays and lived in his garage. Yeah he sank some serious money at pure motorsport and had all the top end parts but i wasnt plowing stupid money into this , spent enough buying this ans the other bits but at second hand prices as i always buy all new and spend far to much like i did on the silver clio and then never actually used it due to crashing my 200sx and having to rebuild that !

im Not sure what sort of money they fetch , all i know is i bought all brand new renault parts and the car didnt get used and just sat on the drive and im running epas set up now

Yeah it probably is buddy if its done decent mileage to be fair . I think they are one of the weak points but like anything it only has a limited life , i know people have iaaues with the line leaking aswell

I know it makes no sense ! The white one was local and cheap and the paint on the silver is knackered from sun damage.

I wish i had kept my standard 182 RB 😂😂

Did a couple of hours this morning in the sleet / rain !

Removed track rods from the silver shell as these have done less than a 1000 miles since being installed so will be fitted to the white shell.

Fitted an old set of hubs which were fitted to the red clio for transport to the silver shell so the car can be moved once engine and gearbox have been removed. Need to make some room in the garage and build up the front end on the white clio so i can push it back !

Fitted a set of hubs to the red shell which have 2 good bearings , i fitted brand new track rods and ends and ball joints prior to the car being transported so all should be good on the front end with AST Solid top mounts, Kw variant 2 coilovers , and polybushed arms.

I think i will be looking into changing the springs front and rear to stiffen it up abit

Old hubs which have now been removed and installed on silver shell , play in one of the bearings .

Engine and gearbox removed from my iceberg clio , this will be going into my red shell.

Need to give it a clean up and some paint prior to installing , powder coat was done about 10 years ago so could do with redoing anyway !

Removed the handbrake cables from the iceberg shell with the intention of fitting a handbrake onto this car as it doesnt run one !
Removed Jon foz frames from the iceberg and put them in ready for installation.

Not alot done on saturday , so bloody cold ! Cleaned two gearboxes and engine ready for paint when its abit warmer !

Been messing around drilling so that i can retrofit a handbrake back into the car as it didnt run one and the mounts have been cut off !

Fitted the seat subframes and drivers seat in position. Hoping to have engine and gearbox fitted in the next few weeks , awaiting bits from powder coaters , 3 weeks ive been waiting !

Connected rear brake lines up and fitted the handbrake cables , just need to fit handbrake now .

Fitted passeger bucket seat but will need adjusting for cage as these were set for my iceberg.

The car didnt have a handbrake fitted and the studs had been removed which holds the handbrake lever so i have had to sort this and fit a set of cables and set it up for 4 clicks.

Also fitted a pedal as the engine that was i previously was 249bhp on throttle bodies so cable pedal.

Test fitted my brembos and tessa brackets , need to get a set of brembo discs.
