to the thread made by Dansta, requesting pictures of your steering wheel, i thought we could share our pictures of our ripped/ melted RS steering wheels!

Thumb grips were ok but actual wheel started doing this suddenly after a hot summer...

That was after 20k, build quality is clearly awesome! Felt nasty to touch, all rippled up.

I have pics of MarkCups steering wheel at about 70k, it puts mine to shame big time, looks horrific!

mine has got it were i hold the top of the wheel tight, need to change it really as it looks tacky

You can tell where my ring rubs against the steering wheel and has damaged it at the top (becasue i hold it like a chav) most likley due to the heat. Just gone over 20k though

Well my Mk2 172 steering wheel is still in mint condition after nearly 77,000 miles.

Blimey, that was ages ago...there's loads of rubber in that pic!

Don't think it was the sun that caused it - it didn't happen in a short period of time - has always been not right and has got progressively worse over time.

I drive always with my hands at 'quarter-to-three' and the wheel has worn on both sides exactly the same, exactly where my hands go.

It's just crap leather - in fact I'm not even sure it is leather.

I did this to save the 'leather'...

Left an old t-shirt in the car and covered it up whenever I wasn't driving, as I'm sure the sun was causing it/wasn't helping.

mine, dynamique type like my car, was changed at 26k km









the Renault assistence in Italy tell me and say the problem was my sweat or the car scent like this

an then, at 57k km was newly destroyed...and the warranty that's expired!!!

when the steer was completely destroyed, I'll remove it and fit a racing steer like Sparco, Momo or similar... even if illegal in Italy!!!
