Powdercoated Wheels - meaning??!

Car  E39 530i
What does powdercoated mean when its refering to black gloss wheels? does it mean it has some extra shine to it or a has another colour in it as well? :S

(feel free to call me stupid :clown: )

Its basically a dry powder form of paint that doesnt require solvents. It is usually applied electrostatically and the baked/cured with heat. It is much harder and has better resistance to wear than conventional painting.

Powdercoating is the toughest and most durable way to colour/coat wheels. Paint's ok but my fella painted his old one's and petrol took the lacquer and colour coat off when he had a leak. Plus if you get brake fluid or any corrosive fluid on them it will just make a mess of the finish, more so than it would with powdercoating.

if you do powder coat your wheels make sure you paint them hot and if u want a glass like finish ensure they are gloss laquered! i powder coated mine at work using satin powder ral 9005 with a matt laquer
