I have noticed a little loss of power in my 172 over the last few months, but i put it down to me just used to the power of the car, but my mate was driving it yesterday and he said that he thought there was a flat spot, and it could be the cat.
There is like a metallic rattling noise when i give it some beans and he rekons that its the cat falling apart and blocking up, which would reduce the power.
Does this seem right and if so is it really worth getting a sports cat say from KTEC if i am going to keep the rest of the exhaust system standard.
Also does anyone know how much the original cats are from reno? i have seen a one on ebay for 180 but i think itll be shite.
Any ideas?
