Power steering pump problems - air in system

  A4 Quattro, 172+182
Changed my dephaser pulley and cam belt yesterday, whilst I was down there with everything off I did my PAS pump as it was whining. Pulley, belt and new pump back on all connected back to find the PAS pump making a grumbling noise. I lost a bit of fluid but the resivouir is full...?? I can only think that there is air in the system now but I cannot get it too bleed up. Tried full lock left and right numerous time with the cap on and off. Tried cracking the high pressure side (outlet) of the pump with the engine running and not running whilst moving the rack from left too right. Tried pressurising the system with a bleed kit but still no joy. Anyone shed any light on this for me it would be highly appreciated.

Cheers chaps
