powerflex bushes

  ibiza cupra
has any one fitted these on the antiroll bars on a 1*2 and if so how easy are they to do and do they make a difference?

they're not going to be easy to fit as the OE ones aren't (just fiddly, really)

seem to be conflicting views as to whether or not they're worth the expense/bother

they are looking abit perished so was just wondering if they were worth doing as im probly going to end up changing all the engine mounts and the bushes in the dog bone mont and just thought if it wasnt a hard job then i might as well do them at the same time but if its a pain in the arse then i wont bother lol.

the ones on will probably be ok. If they ever completely fail then you should get the uprated ones, but not much point before really. Wishbones, ARB and dogbone should all be changable without any major work. Subframe doesn't need removing AFAIK

i recently mounted powerflex black on wishbones and ARB.

the ones in the outer ARB has started to crack!!, it will be replaced with the standard items.

and the ones in the wishbone seems to start cracking a little bit.

better keep this items with the stock ones.

BTW fitting the inner ARB takes a lot of work without removing the subframe.

the inner ARB bushes are pretty unpleasant to change on the car, even on a ramp. Not impossible by any means, just a big fiddle

Had a quick look but not in too much depth but you definitely dont need to take the subframe off? Can you get access ok?

I wimped out after looking at them and decided to just change my outer ones still have inners in a box lol

Absolute nightmare - but I got them done in 2hrs on my driveway

It's easy getting the brackets off and pulling the old bushes off - and it's easy putting the new bushes on but then trying to get the bracket back over them is near impossible

What I ended up doing was getting a 50mm long m8 bolt and nut with a couple of washers and putting them through the bracket
Then used them to pull the bracket shut - when it was shut I clamped it with a g-clamp so it couldn't move and removed the m8 nut/bolt
Then put the full size proper bolt through and tightened it up

Wasted about an hour trying to do it first before I did that - it works a treat :)

Top man, I'll give that a try.

Cheers!

Right, got these ba5tards fitted today and have to agree with all who said it is an absolute pig to do especially on the driveway.

For anyone else attempting to do this, here is a couple of tips that worked for me after a couple of hours of head scratching and swearing.

1) ditch the 25mm bolts and use some 40mm long ones. 50mm is too long and hits off the sub frame before being fully tightened. This helps with getting the nut started as you don't need to close the bracket as much.
2) the g clamp is definitely a help with pulling the bracket together.

Hope the bushes are worth it!

Sorry mate - 50mm was just off the top of my head. I picked something up out the garage that fit lol

I doubt they're really worth doing unless your old ones are falling apart like mine were. I hear it increases understeer :(

No need to remove the subframe. I don't think they are worth changing to powerflex ones unless your standard ones are knackered. I've only done a couple because they were slightly cracked and perished.

I've perfected a little technique for doing the inners.

If anyone wants theirs done, pm me.
