Pre-Telephone Equipment

Im waiting for my new 172 to be delivered, and have added the pre-telephone option, but the dealer didnt really know exactly what it was .

Im presuming it means the car has microphones installed and wiring in place for the phone to run through the speakers?

Has anyone whos recently bought a new Clio got this option? What sort of connector does it have, and what will I need to buy to connect my particular phone (T68i) to it?

Cheerz,
Nik

Sorry to tell you mate, but I did the same, my dealer didnt have a clue, but when it came I got it sorted that there guy who fits all their stereos and car kits would fit a the renault unit to go with the telephone equipment, anyway, kit arrives, I go down to talk to the guy about where to fit it, and it was crap, I had the Nokia 6210 at the time, and was about to get 6310 for one of my jobs, but as you have to fit the renault car kit, not a nokia one it so happened that it couldnt handle the 6310, even though it was the same connectivity system - pants I say, so in the end the guy suggested to just fit a normal carkit instead as he said it would be a better unit and would work with the new phone too (Oh and cheaper to boot)

It just goes to show, Renault really dont know about the stuff they sell!

Thanks Roamer,

If thats the case, I shall be demanding my £95 back then.... not that i expect ill get it without them ripping it out.

I agree getting an aftermarket kit would probably be better and (maybe) cheaper, I just thought it would make sense to have one installed when the car was built...... stupid me...

I doubt it would be when its built anyway. Probably when it gets to the dealer, but I wouldnt think it would be done on the production line.
