Price for a basic engine swap?

Approximately how much would a garage take to do an engine swap on my mk1 1.2?

It'd be a straight rip-the-old-1.2-out, lob the new RSI in...no pfaffing with parts replacement etc.

probably round 1500 quid round my area. They want 2 grand plus vat to do a valver conversion on mine

I have the engine though.

Was expecting about 2-300 quid - that reasonable?

I'd say approx £500 for a straight swop with no replacement or upgrade of parts

... mind you i remember reading that hill power only charge approx £350 for straight engine swop

You may scare people off by not putting back the same model engine

Yea, Hill Power was like £350, but that was Valver -> Williams.. which is easier than anything else.
