Primary bonnet catch problem 182 2005 model

  clio 172
I've got a problem with my newly purchased clio 182 RB cup .

I've noticed that the bonnet is unlatching from the primary catch while driving .

I've been told this happens due to not lubricating it !

I've phoned renault and they have told me it would be £95 !

Which part is at fault ? The spring on the bonnet or the actual catch that sits under the cross member ?

Is it bumper of job to replace the catch under cross member as the grill is in the way

Finch

Mine was replaced free of charge by Renault. I thought they were all being done under a recall.

I've never actually looked at the mech to know what would need removing to get to it.

Yeah I had a recall letter on my 53 plate but I've only just bought this one and mine is unlatching when you drive !

I phoned renault customer services expecting them to say bring it and we will sort it out but they are going to try charging me £95 which I don't think is right if they've had a recall on these .

I'm assuming mine hasn't been back or is now at a stage where it's not functioning .

The catch on the cross member is covered by the grill which are a pain to remove I have found in the past

I've swapped the catch on the cross member with a spare I had in garage . Bonnet is now closed but it's not unpoping when pulling the bonnet catch inside . The mechanism I've took off was seized so maybe his causes the cable to stretch .

How will I get bonnet open ? Can it be done from under Neath or do I need to remove bumper ?
