I'm starting / attempting to do a tap water droplet using the Tv button on the Canon 500D not sure if it makes any diff. When i take the pic it's just a black screen of the shot i took but when i change to another type for eg M or Av it's fine i can see the shot i took but not on the Tv. First time it's done it.

Is it something i done? Also i'm doing this with the light on inside the house

Have you tried bringing the shutter speed down? TV is shutter priority on Canon.

What does it say when you are in Manual? You can replicate that in TV by adjusting the top and back wheel? Try getting them the same (or as is says in full auto) and see if it does it then. From what it sounds like though you just have a fast shutter set up and not enough light?

I'm in M now at 1/640 F8 and comes up black also 1/500 F5.6. I'm in the kitchen with a flo tube as light

Im a total noob at photography. Only starting so no doubt I have the right settings for what I'm doing. I'm getting some practice

I can see now what I've been doing. I've dropped it down to 1/30 and took a pic and I can see a pic now it's dark like. Obviously not enough light getting to the shot I want

You going to be using a tripod? It sounds like you might need one.

Have a look on youtube for tutorials. Some helpful videos out there.

Post up your results too...

Edit: This might be better. I cant hear it though as my laptop speakers are terrible and are drowned out by my boats engines. Looks ok though.

I was using a tri pod like, I also changed the ISO to 800 that made the pic brighter. I'll have a look at the video and I'll have another go at this during the day, see what happens then. Cheers aye I'll post it up too

Does the aperture flash on the viewfinder when you try to take the picture? I'm 99% sure its because theres not enough light available to take the picture at the shutter speed you're after. Get one of these from the garage -

Point it at your water and try again. To freeze the water you need a shutter speed of around 1/1000th.
