Had a problem with my car after starting up this evening for the second time this year, both been when it has been pissing down with rain all day.
Basically I start the car up fine, and the revs start shooting up and down. The dash light below the petrol light comes on (zigzag in a box and coil below) If i leave it, it ends up stalling, but if I rev it slightly its a little less erratic. The only thing I have found that stops it is revving the engine to about 5/6k a few times, and it will stop. I drove for about half an hour afterwards and it has been fine.
It has only happened in extremely wet weather, about a 2 weeks apart.
Does anyone have any ideas of what is causing it? Water getting into a connection or somewhere in the engine bay?
