Problems with running 2 screen

I have been running two screens since I bought the computer three years ago.

The one on the right always flickers when running programmes such as MSN, Windows media player, Adobe reader?

The one on the left is also very dark and I can't seem to change this?

Any ideas?

i have same problem with my work machine, but only when i right click on a WMV file for some reason strange!
