Progressive Scan TV/DVD

  MK3 Sport Tourer TCE
I'll be getting a Nintendo Wii in the next couple of months and have been looking at the optional component cable to get the best possible picture out of it.

My TV doesn't have an input for component cables, but my DVD player does. Does this mean if I were to put the Wii through the DVD to the TV I would benefit from a better picture? Or is it time to buy a new TV?

I'm not even sure if I uinderstand what component cables and progressive scan is all about, anyone care to enlighten me? ;)

Your TV needs to support progressive scan for one thing, your tv will not show any better quality than how you view DVDs or probably worse tbh. Your system is only as good as the worst component. So if your Wii is connected via component to your dvd player but your dvd player is connected to your TV via scart, might as well connect your Wii to your TV via scart. Buy a new TV, they're pretty cheap nowdays.

You're right they were outputs not inputs

I've been looking for a cheap and cheerful progressive scan TV, but not all the ones I've forund with component inputs are listed as being progressive scan capable.

Does the fact that a TV has component inputs pretty much guarantee that it does support it?

Thanks guys.
