Any comments or questions welcome :D

My question, how dafuq did you get the rear seats out?
I tried the other night, with a T40 and a couple of other s**t thats escaped my mind, but It just wouldn't move the two bolts by the plasic cover
you remember how you got it out or what you used? Help haha

Alright Jazz,

There are 3 bolt (Socket connection) on the floor panel back behind the rear seats. One on the far left, one in the middle (where the seat splits) and one on the right.
All three of the Bolts have Torx key connections in the middle of them :D If i'm upfront with you, you will never get them out with a Torxs driver mate, you will have to use a Socket wrench on them!

I can't remember what size they are, however when you are tackling something like this its good to have a tool kit with both variable sized Torx driver's and an interchangeable quick release socket wrench/ratchet with various heads.
(I've put you some links below to point you in the correct direction if you don't have any :))

Quick Release Socket Toolkit Set: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/17PC-1-4-...t=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3f1bc05905
Torx Key Set: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9-10-PCS-...Hand_Tools_Equipment&var=&hash=item4d053ae421
Torx Screwdriver Set: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCREW-DRI...t=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4aba58934b

Due to the harsh conditions the bottom of the bolts receive from the outside (yes the bottoms are exposed outside :p) You will find it a tough job to do, therefore you will need plenty of WD40 to loosen the bolt (At no point will you have to attack it from the underneath of the car)

As most people who have attempted this will know that the bolts will seize up when loosening them (because of the end part of the bolt being exposed to external conditions, i.e slight rusting)
DON'T FORSE THEM!!!! I CAN'T STRESS HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS.

What you will need to do is loosen the bolt as far as it will go, apply some WD40 then tighten it up again. Repeat this as many times as it takes for all 3 bolts, they will eventually come out.
You should be left with a black screw in the middle part of the seat, from memory you should be able to just push the seats forward for them to release. Twist/shuffle the seats round and pull them out the boot

When it comes back to you putting the seats back in, put some Vaseline down the bolt holes, then next time you come to take the seats out you will be able to do it with ease ;)

Hopefully that helps mate, if not let me know and I'll try and give you some more pointers :approve:

A lovely motor you got, especially the job with the detailing.

Thanks Morgam :) Still lots to do on the detailing side of things :D Only because you get better results with a DA Polisher ;)
Hopefully I'll receive one from someone that loves me this christmas

You were thinking it ;)

Ahh thats alright then, you will just have to do 12+ tightens and un-tightens with a bit of WD :boring:
Ohh bad times  wimp, cough.... cough ;)

Let me know how you get on mate :)

Fab!! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I have been reading a lot of reviews and your pretty spot on with that :)

I think I got carried away with being a Meguiar Fan Boy :p Love their products therefore made the assumption that the DA polisher would be the best.....That was foolish of me to do so!!!
Like my boss says "what do assumptions make? .... an ass out of you and me" :D They have clearly brainwashed me with their products :rasp:

Again thanks for setting me straight Chris ;)
No bother lad, it'll save you a few quid! ;)

Sounds like your having a rough time....Don't give in mate ;)

You can always come down chepstow way and I can help you out with it :D

I got some of them white bulbs you got for the interior lights. Ended up changing them straight back lol the light was so poor off them. I'd of thought they would of been brighter.

I finaly did it! Was on my lunch break in work like 15 mins ago and im not joking i was fully in my boot, kicking the spanner so it would finally turn :D!!
looked like a t**t though, I work in a call centre so everyone in suits/ shirt and tie just walking past and looking at me crawled up in my boot kicking my car, had a few people chuckle at me, but was worth it!!! now as soon as im home those back seats are out!!

chepstow might be a bit of a treck just for some back seats, but its the thought that counts ;) haha

Did you get one with multiple light clusters?

They seem to make the difference, there isn't a massive change but it makes the interior look better when they come on :D
I have seen others sand down the backing of the lens plastic to let more light through though, and that does make a huge difference!

Tools in the back at work brilliant :D Predetermination and Dedication

Yeah I bet ;) You'll spend the rest of the day thinking about it now and the day will drag like a b**ch :D
Race prepping? or you going down the good old teenager way of "Lighter go faster" :rasp:

Yeah, to be honest I wasn't expecting you to drive down to Chepstow lol

haha! i know I was just thinking about that and no one in work on my team likes cars, so got no one to talk to about my success! :rasp:
Thats the idea of a teenage way! its free power if you think about it ;)

It was either come to chepstow or get a hack saw......:approve:

The two bolts holding the rear support in were an absolute C**T! to get out. don't know if i can tell the difference tho at 70mph but at 30 its definitely quieter which is odd ha

Yeah they can be a little on the stiff side cant they mate :D

It depends on how you pack the stuff, although you have to remember that you get road noise from the front as well, so at 70 in the front yes.... in the back I would imagine it being pretty sound.
Get someone in the back and try it :)

Have you added the seats and the parcel shelf back in?

Thanks to your post I have now space blanket-ed my rear quarters, my boot floor and between the carpet and rear struts in the boot!

I've also lined the front door cards in heat and sound reflective material that's around 10mm thick, leaving my car considerably quiter.

Cheers mate!

Just gave this a read and the attention to detail is amazing! Makes my arctic look terrible lol! Can wait till the new year now and I get to give it a full going over. But great car mate, and best colour ;)

Christmas day has come and I have decided to start my insurance policy for the 182!
(Mainly because the 1.2 needs a new engine :D) ..... Merry Christmas me :)

For those of you that don't know I'm 19 with only 1 years no claims as of the 23rd December.

Great Start I know :dapprove:

I realised that because of my age and lack of time on the road I would get put into the same category as the rest of the teenagers (Reckless), regardless of whether I'm one of the safe ones ;)

So last month I was surprised to see that my insurance renewal for the 182 from the 1.2 would be £1500. I considered this being quite a good quote bearing in mind I'm insured on a 1.2 for £2300!
However I did do my research and found that Insurance for males would be dropping by around 20% on the 20th December (Where as girls were going up 40%)
I was glad to see that the research and time paid off.... My insurance had dropped to £1200 (over the phone).

I then began to trawl the comparison sites for a good deal as it is always cheaper that way.
A few minutes of my time and this got me down to £1000 :approve:

Did some tweaking and thought that this time round I should be truthful about my average mileage and how I use the car :)
Currently there aren't any modifications on the car, however I didn't want to get a re-quote as I knew it would give the insurance company the choice of bumping up the figure to whatever suits them best!!

And lets face it I know there are a few mods that are in mind ;)

What I declared on the policy:

Details:

• 1 Driver (Myself)
• 19 Years of age
• 1 Years NCB
• Used for Social, Domestic and Commuting
• Parked in the Office car park during the day and on the driveway at night
• Average Mileage: 10,000

Policy type: Third Party, Fire and Theft

Additions:

• Legal cover up to £100,000
• Windscreen cover
• Stereo Cover up to £4000 (Webpage is incorrect)

Declared Modifications:

• Aftermarket Exhaust
• Suspension Changes
• Uprated Brakes
• Air filter Changes

The final quote.... well I’ll let the picture do the talking ;)

That's a decent price. Elephant and admiral are good for young drivers. Elephant insured my Evo 5 when I was 21 with 4 years Ncb for £1580. Then the second year it dropped to £980.

You must be well chuffed.

Haven't updated this in a little while so I thought I would as I managed to get a few things done this weekend :)

Managed to get the boot handle off today as it was annoying me how much dirt could be behind it ;)
It was also a worthwhile job as I had purchased a new renault badge to replace the old one!

Again it was the same for the actual handle, I applied a little heat to the badge as it was bonded on very well to due to some crazy ass french tape on the inside :)

Servicing day :D

Got all of my parts ready to give the car a proper overhall,

•Elf Evolution SXR 5W-40 Engine Oil (5 Litre)
•Elf Tranself NFJ 75W-80 Gearbox Oil (5 Litre)
•Renault Type D Collant/AntiFreeze (5 Litre)
•RenualtSport Oil Filter (with Sump washer)
•Wynn's Engine Flush
•New Engine coolant bottle

So I made my way down to Westlands Hyundai in Gloucester, now I realise that it sounds a bit weird to get a Renault serviced at a Hyundai garage but they service many cars other than their own and they know what they are doing :approve:

It may have been something to do with me getting staff rate (£25 an hour) which is next to nothing!
The chaps did a brilliant job and thoroughly tested the car before handing it back to me :race:

I can notice that It runs a hell of a lot quieter and is a lot smoother with regards to acceleration off the line ;)

Here are some pics of him at the garage

Good progress. :D Enjoy reading through your thread. makes a good read.

Hope none of the specialists on here read this though, they'd probably cringe with you taking it to a Hyundai garage lol.

Haha, well the chaps who did the servicing on my car are ex-renault mechanics, hence the staff discount, the rest of them are originally saab employees ;)

I forgot to show one of the little changes I made under the bonnet when I had my service :D

My new coolant expansion tank (At a different angle, I can only apologise!)
It's one step closer to that engine bay being factory fresh, still a long way to go though :(
