Project *Bag of sand* Phase 1 172

  LY Megane R26 230
Well recently a mate of mine has been looking for a cheap car to run around in and ive been looking for a project that im going to lend/rent to him then have back once hes done with it (around 6 months time)

After enjoying my 172 Cup so much and picking up a bit of knowledge of these cars over the last 3 years it seemed to make sense i buy a cliosport of some description.

Luckily Rich (Coleman) off this forum was selling a phase 1 that needed some work and as he is only 20 mins away from me i thought it was worth a look. http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?658856-Ph1-Clio-172-SOLD

A deal was done and now i own a titanium silver phase 1

Heres a few pics of the car before i picked it up

As you can see the car is clean for its age and has only done 78k.only minor point is the rust on the N/S rear arch and a few light marks the the front bumper.

The reason its called Project Bag of Sand is that i'd like to try and get it back on the road and tidied up for a bag of sand/grand so it going to be tight but im lucky to have a few left over parts from Clio's i've broken in the past.

Cost so far

Car £500
Change found in car -31p

Total to date £499.69

Left to spend £500.31 ;)

  Ph1 track 172
looks from the for sale advert that it only need the handbrake looking at, if you cant do that for under £500 id be rather astonished!!

looks good though! cheap ph1's FTW! i paid £535 for mine! :D

Yeah shouldnt be too much work to get her mot'd and road legal again :)

I thought mine was cheap at £650. Looks like a good base for a project, good luck.

Thanks mate, just needs afew things and it will be ready to go once again

Had a quick look at it and the handbrake mech and cables are fine.it turns out on of the bolts holding the handbrake mech to the body has sheared off so gonna have a little think on how to get around this.

£500 for a road worthy Sport... excellent going.

My phase 2 was £600 and had 4 pages of MOT failures. Granted such like tyres + brakes i would have replaced anyway but still a large cost.

Makes me think though... if i can get another for £500 then i can have a spare track car.

well give her a qucik wash today as the poor thing has stood for sometime and was getting moss/dirt in the gaps and shuts.Fair play she doesnt look to bad for an 11 year old car! :)

Only downside of the bodywork is this spot of rust that needs attention
