Oh my! ^^

Eddie, i'd still change the brake lines. Seems silly not to after all this effort. I did a whole Renault 19s worth whilst eating a pizza and watching rubbish films. Just laid all the old ones down and copied them. I then polished the copper right up and lacquered them. Looked great. Quite therapeutic too.

Gorgeous.

If I could afford, I would have.

I really don't have to time at the moment, the current ones are acceptable.

Over winter, I'll start thinking about oily bits and doing things like brake lines.

It's been 11 months since I last drove it, the fewer delays until the next time I drive it, the better.

Sigh.

Brakes International have just called me to say the brake master cylinder rebuild kit that was supposed to be due in today, is actually no longer available.

So I now have to try and source one again.

I really have had enough of this now.

Eddie, you've taken the thing apart, you've got all the bits, why not head down to a brake specialist or a motorsport place and see if they have new exact equivalent bits rather than buy a kit?

You may get lucky.

You may get lucky.

You might be right, I'll contact a couple of companies that I can think of, see what they say.

There must be an upgrade that's relatively painless to fit?

According to the forum, apparently not, but I am going to do some research into thread sizes and cylinder capacities.

If I can find one that's close in capacity, and has the same M10x1 fitting, and the same pedalbox mounting pattern, it in theory, should work.

It's become a mighty frustrating project in the last week or so :(

Both are listed as for a 1977 onwards car.

That said, they do look like the ones fitted to my car, suggesting that mine isn't the correct one for the car.

Right, Bigg Red might have the kit in stock. Everyone cross their fingers.

Some pictures of the wheels in white primer, sprayed the other day:

In the meantime today, I got the base coat of silver on the wheels:

Good effort mate. These things are meant to piss is off. Keep it up. This will look epic once finished.

Master cylinder rebuilt yesterday.

Pistons rebuilt with new seals:

All reassembled, ready for bench bleeding and refitting:

Wheels were flatted down, and then the final coat of base:

Then a few coats of lacquer:

Few running issues with my daily at the moment, so I've got 2 BMW's to be working on.

That wheel colour looks a little flat Edward? Not fancy metallic?

What was the result on the MS?

Yeah, the paint I bought was just flat sliver unfortunately, a bit of a shame, but the whole point of this was to decide if I actually like the wheels. If I do, they'll get a proper refurb. (The home jobbie has only cost me £70 or so)

The M/C is rebuilt and back in the car, it needs bench bleeding (removing the air from the M/C before hooking it up to the brake system) so I'll do that and then bleed the system again, fingers crossed that should sort it.

If it doesn't... you interested in a BMW E21? £4k. Perfect conditon.

:D

I'd take it for 2k and a yorkie.

Shame you did the lacquer though you spaz, you could have done a single coat of metallic to finish, then lacquered, so it would have only cost like 8£!!!

I know, I got giddy and threw the lacquer on. I then realised how flat the sliver was and kicked myself.

Great news!

The master cylinder rebuild has worked, or it certainly seems to have done. The brakes work like they used to, and a test drive confirms that the problem would seem to have been solved.

This meant I could press on with the interior, I got the waterproof skin on the inside of the doors tonight:

Then rain stopped play, so I had to call it a night.

Should make some good progress tomorrow, with a decent update to follow.

Great news! Hope this means more updates more quickly like before :)

So, the final push happened the other day.

I noticed a leak on the rear seat/carpet behind the drivers seat.

Looked up to see this:

Causing this:

That was immediately dealt with in the form of some silicone.

After that I started putting the final bits and pieces back together. Carpeted my centre console section:

I also sprayed my armrests black to match the new door cards. Left them to dry for a few days and they've come out brilliantly.

Most importantly the paint hasn't filled the "grain":

But of all the bits done recently, the best was getting some tyres on the wheels and getting them fitted :D

The front still needs to come down a bit, and they could do with some spacers, but I think the wheels look brilliant, very happy :)

So, it goes in for an MOT on Saturday, I see no reason why it shouldn't pass :)

That looks great, is the front bumper going back on? (IMO they look better with the bumpers, don't know why so many leave them off)
