project white hybrid

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
Love them seats, look comfy as foooook. Keep it up mate.

with my fat ass its a tight squeez lol will probably look for some bigger ones.

Your black one did look ace, if you get this one to the same standard you have done a cracking job :approve:

cheers hopefully it will come out looking alright :D

another day another update...

today was mostly about the black hybrid getting that ready for insurance by putting iterior in and tidying it up so not had chance to do much.
started off by swapping the door handles over the white one had 2 cracked handles.
05032009099.jpg

then i saved the numberplate from the back one for memories lol
05032009097.jpg

then swapped speakers over as the infinitys arnt as good as my jbls
old..
05032009102.jpg

new
05032009101.jpg

also found alot of that dynomat s**t in the door cards so thatll have to come out, might have something to do with why the door pin needs replacing on drivers side.
05032009100.jpg

then i tried to swap over the ecus to see if i could get rid of the immobiliser, i was going to swap the ecus from each car and just change the chips over, i found both ecus where different
05032009104.jpg

also found that neither should have a immobiliser :S
also found the chip on my car says clio coupe f7p but its a 2.0 and not a coupe :S
05032009105.jpg

put the chip in the one out the old hybrid to see if that would stop the immobiliser as that didnt have one
05032009106.jpg

chip in, i bosh it on and the car wont start :S

now i have no idea about what ecu does what and what chip goes where all i know is it didnt work lol anyone have any clues?

also tried sealing the exhaust on the white one and its just not having it lol arg

  E92 M3 Monte Carlo
its only my opinion mate but i wouldnt have mounted those seats like that, them strips youve bolted to are quite weak and could rip through

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
Did you use a heat gun and chisel to remove tar?

indeed best method that and a scraper with like a inch tip is best any bigger and its gets abit hard to get it up.

its only my opinion mate but i wouldnt have mounted those seats like that, them strips youve bolted to are quite weak and could rip through

worked in the last car with a 50mph head on smash :p but yeah im getting proper mounts done soon enough when the cage goes in ect.

  320d
Good project this mate, nice to see you back on your feet with a MK1 again.

Do hybrids constantly go wrong though? All I ever hear about them is problems.

  ValverInBits
I woulda used a chip holder when soldering in the chip. It's not the chip that has the immobiliser, it's somewhere else in the ECU isnt it?
Is your immobiliser light on the dash flashing during cranking?

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
yeah it flashs i know it wasnt the chip that had it the chip was used cus the engine has cams and the chip in my old one wasnt for cams so switched them over. and theyre all using a chip holder no chips are actually soldered in.

brett nah they dont you get your problems as with any car but these can be up to j plates so old cars that have been driven hard so a well looked after one will be fine, my last one never went wrong and when it did it was my fault lol for messing arund with it.
just a quick one today the dash took a while to do and i didnt get started till late.

plan for today was to shed more weight :D can never loose to much lol
started with all this shite behind the dash so on with that
06032009107.jpg

takin the dash off took a while compared to my last car could have all that off in 10 mins lol. all the crap behind the dashtop.
06032009108.jpg

got it all out didnt get many pics cus phone battery was dieing and didnt want to be on it when it was dark so got a move on.
with the carpets and plastics gone it leaves wires on show so i got rid of them.
06032009112.jpg

06032009113.jpg

got loads of it out took all the clips off that go from front to back of the car re routed the abs wires so wires only go up ones side of the car. also took all the plastic bits that guide the rear part of the loom up the car and routed it up in the body shell and it pops out the rear seatbelt hole and across the back of the car.
06032009115.jpg

how today finished
06032009117.jpg

06032009116.jpg

still plenty more cleaning and crap to be getting rid of.

  williams 2,seat leon
hello bud. can you tell me how much it was to flock your dash top, and who did it? thanks steve.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
yeah cheers they aint staying like it i have a cage to go in and ill be mounting them on that this is just temp till that goes in.
you mean to have them crossed over? they have to be mounted higher like shoulder level for them to be mounted right.

  Clio II 1,5 dci

Sorry - it was a bit difficult for me to understand your text. I mean that you have to cross over the belts - have a look at the picture above. Your are right, the belts don't have to be crossed over higher like the shoulder level. I hope you understand what I mean, it's also diffcult for me to explain those technical things in English.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
ah i get you, ive always thought they had to be mounted higher so you dont get crushed into the seat?

its ok with the english i get the jist :)

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
heres a update not to much but takes a while to do thinks on the black one as its tiiight lol, for a few days ive noticed the starter motor making a noise like a rattleingdidnt think to much to it but the other day i drove it whilst it was making the noise, bad idea lol. turned out the starter was sticking to the flywheel so when id turn it off the starter would still be turning the engine over so id have to turn the car off then on again hopeing it wouldnt stick as i didnt want to be driving it whilst its trying to turn the car on.
anyway luckily i had one on the black one but blimy what a task it was getting the old one off with the engine being up against the bulkhead. ah well better to save myself 120 quid and get this one off, at first i wasnt sure if they would be a straight swap as as you can see in the pic below its a megane bottom end 714 and my last one was a 700 williams bottom end.
11032009122.jpg

turns out its the best one to have :D also the startermotor was different on both cars but ah well ill try my luck.

12032009126.jpg

you can see the size difference in them both obviously the one on the white one was replaced with a cheaper one at somepoint.
before
12032009125.jpg

after (with heatshield i saved off the black one)
12032009127.jpg

as i was doing all this i thought id replace the header tank as the one off the black one was only a few months old and the one on the white one looked a little worse for wear.

12032009124.jpg

12032009128.jpg

that pics with some rad weld in the system, hopefully thatll cure the leak i have from the front end.

as it was getting dark and that was done i thought id do the little job of removing the fog light from the other side and stick the demontweeks fog light feed that somehow survived the crash on the last car lol.
before
12032009129.jpg

after, a s**t pic but gives you a idea, alot better that shitty foglights imo.

thats todays tomorrow ill be hopefully getting the s**t out the doorcards and try another decat i picked up last night off a mate as the current one is abit s**t and the system just doesnt seal properly.
12032009130.jpg

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
today i started by flushing the shitty rad weld out, seems its done its job tho no leaks lol.
then it was onto the last of the tar inside only had these bits to do.
13032009131.jpg

didnt take long to whip that up, then it was onto cleaning what was left up
13032009132.jpg

bit of a grim job and dirty but armed with my auto glym intense tar removal i cleaned most of it up and was just left with it needing a hoover.
i put the seats back in and did the harnesses how i had been advised to, so ill see how that works out till i get the cage in.
13032009133.jpg

13032009134.jpg

didnt leave it to clean but im not going to be to anal about it just yet as more works needed before it needs to be clean for painting.
was left with quite abit of tar, does way abit like a heavy bag of shopping :p
13032009135.jpg

then it was onto the doors as i had some of that dyno mat s**t in there i thought id crack on with them and after getting them off i thought feck it ill leave them off as when the cage goes in there wont be any room for them because of the door bars.

bish

13032009137.jpg

other side
13032009141.jpg

13032009142.jpg

didnt get all the shite out was getting darker so got a move on and put it back together so i could tackle it another day.
also spent a couple hours polishing my dads mk3 becuase of overspray i got on it

and now its the weekend if i dont go out tonight ill crack on with doing the decat tomorrow and maybe replace the door pins as there fucked.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
cheers guys its been piss if im honest i could bosh this lot out in a couple days as i knew it all from my last car still abit left to do but thinking about it ive done the little jobs, on the list is widetrack (god i miss that lol) cage, painting bits and battery in the back. then its just tidying bits up and a remap.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
cheers mate :)

well after 5 weeks off (i think) i went back to work today :( only worked for about 2 hours tho didnt want to over do it.
so after work i thought id get on with some work.
went to the scrap yard yesterday got some manual mirrors so i could get rid of some of the wores on show and as i was making door cards up in the future it would of been a pain to keep the leccy ones. and hopefully its saved some weight and it looks neater.
before
18032009163.jpg

after
18032009164.jpg

other side before
18032009161.jpg

after
18032009162.jpg

should of got some pics of more of the door so you could see how much neater it is without the wires.

then got onto the roof lining as that was about the last of the interior that needed coming out
before
14032009145.jpg

after
18032009167.jpg

wanna get rid of the sunroof but i dont wanna have to rivet a plate on as it looks s**t so got to come up with a neater better looking way thinking a carbon fiber sheet like i was going to do on the last one.

then looking over the car thought id change the pedal rubber as it was looking tatty and the ones on the black hybrid where nice and new looking
before
18032009168.jpg

after also stuck the foot rest in
18032009170.jpg

i wanna be able to get rid of this shity lookin thing but its stuck down real well and i dont wanna be pulling paint up lol any ideas?
18032009165.jpg

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
a quick one from the other day, my drivers door had fucked pins and was a right pain in the arse pretty much had to lift the door to shut it proper shuting it from sitting in the car you had to slam it and more often than not id be driving down the road with the door half open lol.
so after reading peoples problems ect ive been putting it off for a full day just incase it took a while any drilling was needed ect but it turned out to be piss easy me and a mate did it and when i was doing the strut brace and trying to find a damn bolt i dropped that holded the coilpack on my mate had done the drivers door, wtf i was expecting it to take a while haha.

before
19032009185.jpg

after
19032009189.jpg

not that you can any difference haha

heres the pins from drivers door alot of wear on them things.
19032009188.jpg

can see more wear on this pic
19032009186.jpg

also thought as i had the strut brace and holes pre drilled id stick it on
as it was on the last car witch sufferd some bending the brace had bent a little but some vice action soon sorted that
before
18032009175.jpg

in the vice in a few positions
18032009176.jpg

after
18032009177.jpg

before
19032009184.jpg

after
19032009187.jpg

need to swap the hose that goes to the top of the header tank from the black one to this as its alot smaller and quite tight on the strut brace, it dont really matter just would be nice to have more give.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
update for today, had my colon flocked today by a old mate thats just bought a flocking machine. thought as the dash top was done it would be rude not to lol

25032009201.jpg

25032009200.jpg

25032009202.jpg

also bought a hybrid sticker

24032009196.jpg

got the cage out to do some measuring for poweder coating. looks fecking shite looks like the job i did painting it in car was terrible but when it was in it looked awsome haha

24032009197.jpg

24032009198.jpg

24032009199.jpg

going to get door bars welded in the harness bar lowerd as it was to high last time. then take it for powder coating. going for the simple black and white theme.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
lol whys that? yeah hope it will wont be quite as flash as the black one but will be just as good drivewise hopefully.

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
im not sure might do but ill see how the cutting goes first then go from there but im thinking of doing the door cards so all one colour ect would be nice but unsure if itll be to over the top.

  Golf GTD Mk7
wouldn't say over the top to be honest. If everything matches it will look sweeeet. Maybe stop at the cage/pedals ;)

  Golf R
sh*tloads of work but huge amounts of respect for the level of enthusiasm and effort you've put it... i hope that luck stays on your side and you get to enjoy this one :)

  Rb182cup+s2 rallye
right ive been abit slack recently so thought id get a move on with prepping bits so i can get cage in when it painted.

first thing i thought id do was remove the carbon canister and give the drivers side wheel arch a clean as i hadnt had the wheel off that side yet.
01042009227.jpg

01042009228.jpg

as you can see really quite caked up in s**t. dirty horns

01042009229.jpg

got rid of carbon canister and the bracket and bolted the honkers to the cages original place.

01042009230.jpg

putting the wheel on had abit of a shock when tightening the wheel nut up it felt like i had snapped a wheel bolt.
01042009238.jpg

01042009240.jpg

luckily the bolt came straight out and didnt snap in the hub.

then went onto the back didnt get any after pics not sure why lol sure i had maybe i deleated them
this pic shows the amount of shite caked onto the rear inner arch.
01042009243.jpg

then it was time to start the prepping of the cage so i can get everything powder coated (free of charge :D)
last time i put the cage in i did a harness bar so i could loop the harnesses over it and bolt them to the floor like this
27012009613.jpg

but with my new seats they sit further back with more of a lean so it had to go plus i didnt really like it like that.
06042009251.jpg

i used a offcut of metal to start marking up where i wanted the new bar to go it was going there with the other bar i made them so it came in a kind of x shape like below, this was a test run and the bars still needed trimming so they sat more level.
06042009252.jpg

these are the cross bars trimmed up and filled down with my own hands quite proud as the sat on the bar perfectly didnt take me long either.
07042009255.jpg

so with the bars trimmed it was ready to take it to a mates for welding.
started off welding the bell kinda shaped bit into the bar
07042009256.jpg

then the mount onto the main down bar
07042009258.jpg

then joined that end up to the middle cross bar
07042009257.jpg

then the same the other side
07042009259.jpg

bosh
07042009261.jpg

toyed with the idea of gussets but decided not to as i didnt think it looked right.
07042009260.jpg

gave the welds a little sand down to neaten the look up
07042009262.jpg

07042009263.jpg

07042009264.jpg

end result, dont think the 2 bars are compleatly level but you have to look to see its not i think but no doubt the egal eyed will notice.
07042009265.jpg

old tabs had to be grinded off
07042009266.jpg

07042009267.jpg

06042009253.jpg

06042009254.jpg

bosh
07042009268.jpg

now it just needs sanding down, spend a fiver on a paint removing sanding disk and it lasted all of 2 mins grrr more pics of the cage to follow.

today my new present to myself turned up wanted a steering wheel for fecking ages as the original is to big imo. its a omp targa 330mm with omp boss kit cost 140 deliverd off ebay from ybracing bargain imo much cheaper than sparcos ect.
08042009269.jpg

a comparison to the original
08042009271.jpg

08042009270.jpg

after
08042009273.jpg

08042009274.jpg

08042009275.jpg

goes bloody well with my flocked dash and cowlin :D cant wait to get the cage in and battery box in the back to pretty much finish the inside up.

thats it for now sorry if its to long lol
