Protecting my paintwork?

Can i use anything better than mud? Currently find it stops the paint getting scratched, but leaves the pink looking slightly dull :dapprove:

Any tips. Please note, i dont like cleaning, so if there's something i can spray on the car whilst it rains, im all ears.

The car in question. As you can see, i've cleaned in once in 7 months, but the paint underneath is epic.
