First of all, hpe this is in the right section.

Im tryin to play around with some pics i took of the car. I know some basic stuff in PS but cant figure out esactly what i want to do.

Im after creating some pics where the car stays in colour but the background goes into black and white. Seen a few on here like that.

Ive had a look on the photoshop bible but theres nothing like that on there that i can find.

Im using PS CS2

Cheers

using the pen tool, create a path round the car, then inverse the selection and the background will be selected instead. then image > desaturate. should have a b&w background with full colour on the car.

i did this to flameRs a while back. . .cnt find the thread but cut around the car. . .selected opposite area which was the backgrond, and set it to greyscale. . .use the lasso tool to cut

basically use layers:

copy the entire image onto a second layer
add a layer mask to that layer
desaturate the bottom layer
move back to the top layer use the pen tool to draw around the car
select paths then make path selection

you should have the outline of the car now with the marching ants

select inverse

use the paint bucket with a black fill and voila

Sorted, seems theres several ways to do it. Ive had a quick play and had some alright results. As my car is silver, im never going to get the results quite like ^^^

yeah there are a lot of ways to do it.

basically learn layers and layer masks as they are the basics for most photoshop tricks.

also you can lower the car using layers and masks u'll need to learn the clone tool too to paint in where the car used to be if you lower it

Last year when i got quite ill i used to spend up to 48hours straight awake so spent the nights playing on ps. i played around with a pic of my old punto. changed alloys, widened arches, lowered, near front end, tints, new paint scheme etc. was quite chuffed with it. Got the pics on old phtobucket but i cant get access to it! GRRR
