I so so so so hope that Blu-Ray gets stuck up it's own arse and HD-DVD prevails, cant stand Sony's arrogance in ramming Blu-Ray down everyones throats and being so uncooperative at every possible opportunity with the DVD standards etc,etc where they just assume that BD will win because they said it would, the delay of the PS3 in europe has to be one the single biggest mistakes in the technology sector in history

Of course the wii outsold it 4 to 1 in its first week - it was a new launch and there were 4 times as many available!
As for me, i've always had a playstation and love them, but had a go on the 360 on an HD telly last night, and it looks stunning (COD 3).definately getting one

Also another piece of info, In Jap Land the PS3 has allready sold more than the 360 has in a year. So I cant see it flopping! But the japs hate the MS with a passion!
If you've got all that lot i guess you dont have time to use all of them and work, lol.

trouble is there is quite alot in japan that stays only in japan they only like home grown talent when it comes to electronics anyway hence ms always do badly just because the ps3 is big in japan doesnt mean it wont flop everywhere else like thailand where they shipped 3 ps3's at launch

LOL people do seem to have a massive thing thinking the PS3 will flop. It simply wont. Its sold out in the states and contiunes to be, sold out in Japan and allready beaten MS on sales there.
It WILL sell out in Europe as well. The PS3 isnt going anywhere. It might not have a global market share like it used to but it wont be going anywhere!

I don't see why so many 'losers' are hung up about it being a hit or a flop, it's pathetic. Like the geezer who wrote that article, what does he care and who is he to judge anyone when he's probably sitting in his room with his headset on and roaming around with his clan on Xbox Live every waking hour!
I really don't see the point, Xbox will have great games, Wii will have great games and PS3 will definitely have great games too so just pick the one you like, or pick all 3 but please stop f**king whining!

Well its not a flop if it turns a profit, which it will after a year or so like the 360
Also your mate saying its crap? Has he played a proper release of Resistance and Motorstorm as I can assure you they are far from crap!
I bet if you dug back to posts last Nov/Dec half the people praising the 360 now were slaging it of back then!

The 360 OS is superior though. Thats fact not opinion. But will have to see how they update the PS3 OS to see if they make it a little less resource hungry and have a few more features.
Only thing that pisses me off about the system is the Price. It is too expensive. And I also dont like the pad that you have to replace the entire pad when the battery is screwed. Which takes about a year or so. Also the pad is just a rehash of one they had on the PSX. Which flopped.
In a year though its likely it will be a very good system. Right now id rather keep that money and put it to better use.
I agree; the real looser is the noob that pays an inflated price off ebay. He is the proper mug.

The PS3 will make a fantasic door stop once Sony leave the video game market and there are no more games produced for it. Sony is on autopilot trying to make each console more powerfull without any thought about what it's customer actually want. There isn't room for both Sony and MS, I wonder which one will win?

its amazing how many pages these threads turn into all over the world there like £300-400 for either 360 or PS3 not big money for westerners who are into games, online play and film/music download buy both or just buy one and enjoy it. FFs ive bought a hothatch, PJ, 5.1 system (ohh hang on the 7.1 in argos is better as its got more speakers than my poxy 5.1 B&W system ) its hardly a big wad of money for something thats as powerfull as a topend PC but with much less geeky people to play against online

Who cares who wins or loses in the sales figure department? I couldn't give a monkeys! I had a dreamcast and loved it, didn't sell anywhere near as much as the playstation franchise yet it still had great games and was a blast on multiplayer.
Same with the N64, sold about a third of PS2 sales yet had some of the greatest games ever eg Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time etc etc
As long as YOU are happy with what you've bought, why does anything else matter?
And whilst we're here, people who are complaining about the price, how much difference will there actually be between a Blu-Ray ready PS3 and a Premium 360 with the HD-DVD add on?
I believe the answer would be not a fat lot...
I also like the fact that a lot of people who complain about price go and blow 4 or 5 figure sums of cash on cars that will lose as much value as a PS3 will cost in a couple of weeks, rent houses/flats, piss £100 up the wall going out every week etc etc lol!

Thanks for Filling me in, I Didn't realised I was a gimp, but that does add real clout to your argument. I don't really have a personal preference for any of them, my only interest is from a business perspective which often has little to do with which is the "best" product. Yes some people will buy both but my point was that Sony doensn't have a clear strategic position which will allow it compete with Microsoft + Nintendo. If you've bought a PS3 then great I'm sure it will be good fun and just as good as either of the other consoles but I don't think there's any need for personal insults when I don't beleive I insulted anyone.

I haven't bought any of the new consoles, i'm simply not one of these people who 'think' they can forecast the failure of something that isn't even (officially) available to us yet, but still previous incarnations have the best sales track record of any console ever...
When Xbox came out everyone was saying how it would blow PS2 out of the water and that PS2 was doomed. Yet funnily enough, to this day the Sony has still shipped over 4 times as many units as the Xbox, so figure that one out.
Why would games producers stop creating games for a console that holds such a powerful brand name? Even the PSP has sold 2/3 of the amount of Xbox sales in just over a year, and that isn't even a great success.
PS3 may get off to a slow start due to the number of units available but to write it off is rediculous. The brand is too powerful and once the price starts dropping, ie this time next year, i'm sure it will do just fine.

Well. I much prefer the Interface of the 360, the PS3 one is the same as the PSP as I expect you know.
I only have Motorstorm, ridge racer 7 and Resistance on the PS3. But for launch titles they arent hald bad. Especially Motorstorm and Resistance. RR7 is good but just a port really.
However NOTHING comes close to the graphics of GOW on the 360. But being that the PS3 has only been out 1-2 months now that is to be expected.
I 85% bought the PS3 for its Blu-Ray playing capabilities. Its nice to be able to just plug in a normal HDMI lead as well, so your choice of cable.
PS store is Ok, serves the same function as the 360, but I dont like when you download THATS it, all you can do for the time being. But sure that will change in a while. Also I havent done so yet but I am going to whack Linux on there, dual boot. Hopefully this will open up the multimedia capabilities of the PS3. With linux it makes it a region free DVD player!
