ps3 prices

Ive just read the ps3 will be 599 EU (£375) for a premium type pack .

Is this right ? £100 more than the launch price of the 360 ! I bet Microsoft drops the price of the 360 when its launched aswell to give Sony another kick in the nads. I wont be buying one at that price. Think the Sony boys may have messed up tbh.

They are generally considered to be costing more due to the hd dvd player included. I'm happy with my 360, and definately wont be buying a PS3, but I will be getting a Wii

basically, it will have a built in bluray unit for one whereas the HDDVD for the 360 will be external and will also be the cheapest way to own a bluray player so will be worth it IMO.

the reason its expensive over here though is because they are only selling the 60gb version in the uk apparently and not the 20gb one like in europe.

My xbox 360 20gb drive is already full, especially as you only get 12gb usable space on it!!!!!

yeah it actually works out cheaper than the 360 as the ps3 has most things as standard but the 360 you have to buy tons of additions to it to get it up to the same spec.

There is no doubting that Microsoft has got a HUGE head start on both Sony and Nintendo. Although it is annoying that Microsoft get their mits on everything you have to say they have played a blinder getting the 360 out a whole year before any next gen console.

The bluray drive in the PS3 will be similar in quality to the DVD drive in a PS2 compared to a stand alone unit.

SCE aren't going to be allowed to offer a high quality bluray solution as that will take sales away from the stand alone ones they sell. Look at the quality of the DVD playback on a PS2, it's really poor compared to a stand alone DVD player.

I'll be getting a Wii to go with my 360. Microsoft and Nintendo are getting quiet friendly lately.

I'm gonna wait for the HD/BR DVD battle to sort itself out before getting excited about watching Hi-def DVDs.. remember minidisc?

The costs of BR discs are also astronomic (I've heard £40-50 each), and thats got to affect the cost of games and movies.

If I want to watch any DVDs I'll use a standalone player as the quality will always be much better.

i still think HD will win due to the prices involved and the fact that their out now. i'm gonna buy my xbox when the ps3 comes out jsust to spite them.
