PS3 via DVI/VGA?

Right, back at Uni where i only have my monitor which has DVI/VGA input. I bought a HDMI -> DVI converter block but it hasn't worked. Is there anyway i can use my PS3 with DVI?

I have tried factory resetting the consol - because it was set up for 1080 res, and my monitor is 1050 so it wouldn't display anything anyway.

However, that lead is cringe worthy... £3?! Fooking hell, i'll try it anyway.

Answer- Yes the product does support that.

Might be faulty? return and get another to be sure.

Didn't see that... ordered a cable from amazong now anyway. £15 down to £4 or somthing for a HDMI > DVI cable.

See how that goes, might just order a 24" 1080 monitor. LED ones are tempting at just over £200.

Can someone start up there PS3, and do everything you we need to press to change the res to standard... and share what you pressed? See if i can do it with a blank screen.

Just press and hold the power button down for around 15 - 20 seconds. Will return the PS3 to standard settings.

My HDMI > DVI lead arrived today. Still no joy.

Its clearly because the PS3 is in 1080. And i think the reset trick has alot to live up to... because it isn't working.

Fark knows.

Someone right down the key strokes to manually select a lower res!
