Putting the cam stud in a CAT exhaust cam

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
I've got the stud, but how do you get it in tight? does it need thread lock etc?

My plan was to weld a piece of steel on top of the old nut and screw it down untill it gets tight? (i've got a new nut lol)

just put two nuts on it and lock them together,,, do it up with the top nut

yeah use thread lock

just tight lol they get pretty stuck in there with thread lock anyway but you dont want it coming undone!

If your putting an OEM stud into a catcam then you dont want to be bottoming it out to torque it. If you do then the install height will be 5mm shorter than it should.

Install it to the same height as a stock cam (you can just put the cams nose to nose and measure till they butt up). Use PROPER extreem thread lock. Once you torque up with the nut the stud will pull on the threads in the cam anyway and it'll be fine.
