Quaife LSD and standard clutch

  130i Road, 172 Track
Hey fellas. My 172 is having a Quaife ATB LSD fitted at the moment and I bought a new standard clutch to fit too, but my mechanic has suggested looking at an uprated clutch because of the extra forces placed on the driveline created by the LSD.

Has anyone had problems with the standard clutch once they've fitted a Quaife? I couldn't find much info in a search.

If you think it is a good idea to uprate the clutch, what options should I be looking at?

FYI
- standard engine (except Ktec stealth cat-back)
- new CV joints & boots, clutch cable & a gear box refresh are happening at the same time.

Cheers

We ran a Standard clutch in our car with a Quaife LSD its been fine, our car is ITBd (so 200HP +) Only used for track days so it takes lots of abuse and has held up.

Just out of intrest and sorry to be cheeky but what sort of price are these? And what what extra parts do you need or is it a direct replacement?

Direct replacement for the standard diff AFAIK.
Cheapest I've seen one lately is £899 inc VAT, but they go up to about £1,100 depending on where you buy from (I'm looking at getting one myself).

I use standard as well and it runs perfect. I put my money on a lightend flywheel + standard clutch rather than the same amount for a Helix unit.

I have a guide for the job with 80+ images but it is on a Swedish site. Its an involved job I can tell you that much... everything in the box have to be taken out, you cant even get the box apart without special tools.

Not accessable without login, sorry. If someone is very interested in it I can arrange for a login. Just send me a PM.

I've been meaning to repost it for you marten :) Just not had time.

Where did you find it for under 900 quid?

How much you get it fitted for btw?

Ohh missed your answer.

I bought it from K-tec so it was 1000 something. Same price as from Quaife but cheaper shipping.

I borrowed the tools and did the job myself. It is not that hard if you know what to do, there are some areas where the Renault manual is unclear to say the least. Guess my "guide" fill out the blanks quite well. At this time I have bought all the tools since Im taking JC5 gearbox jobs at this time.

Walkie, you're mentioning new CV joints; you prob mean the whole driveshafts ?

Or are you able to get just the joints done down under ?
