Questions About 172 Steering Wheel

I wanted to know if I could fit a Steering Wheel from a 172 PH2 to my 172 PH1?

That's what I am going to do then Because all Steering wheel on the PH1 has wears off, each single one on ebay had it! And seems there is less problems on th PH2 one and it looks better too! The scrappy round the corner has one he said 60 Pound, Is it a pain to fit it thought?

I have never done it mate! However if you pay your membership fee there is a good guide in the guides section which explains how to remove the old wheel and fit a new one

Thought they needed different boss' for aftermarket which presumably means they aren't easily interchangeable.

Not 100% Mike but I have seen it done numerous times on here so it's definitely possible.

The PH2 wheels melt just as much and the thumb grips are prone to splitting. Renault just can not make decent steering wheels.

Your better going for a Aftermarket one (but you will loose the airbag)

Or find a company that can retrimm you PH1 one in leather so it last longer.

Hmmm, just been looking at the guides and cant tell or not, i'm sure someone said they are different in one of the 197 wheel threads.

Warren or fred will most likely know!

Edit: PH1 airbag only looks to have 1 wire anyway so wont be as easy as a straight swap over for that I presume.

The boss is different. I think the splines are the same, its the indicator cancel nibs that are different. It wont cancel the stalk. But then you could swap the stalks around too..... hmmmmmm

The Ph2 wheel will fit a Ph1. But the airbag won't work.

Ph2's have two-stage bags, Ph1's have the older setups. Different connectors.
