Quick Carbon Fibre Question

  ValverInBits
With reference to prepreg carbon manufacture:

Does the autoclave supply the 1bar (or so) pressure required when curing or is that supplied by the vacuum bagging around the part?

Cheers,
Mark

im pretty sure the bag sucks the air out pulling the pre preg down on to the mold, the auto clave is just an oven, gets to a temp which makes a chemical reaction happen in the pre preg making it harden....

depends on the material, the complexity, the thickness etc etc

the clave is a pressure oven, but can be used as just an oven

bagging helps the resin settle uniformly IIRC
