quick query

when i picked my car up from service today, renault tried to charge me for screenwash fill...i had already topped it up to the hilt before taking it in. anyway, when i got home, i popped the bonnet to check the screenwash and i noticed that the plastic surround around the engine block has been cracked. renault where fitting an accessory belt in the service. i should be in my right to ask them for a new surround???

let us know the outcome fella
called back round to renault first thing this morning and explained the situation to them. the mechanic who was working on the the car was not in today, but....wait for it...surprise surprise, not a problem. they have order me a new surround and are going to fit it tomorrow. of course, the receptionist said to me that the mechanic was not in, but if you are telling us it wasn't broke, then... etc etc. bottom line...they are fixing it. thanx for the comments folks.

If you have any work done at a main dealer, always take the car apart to check what they have done.

After one episode my local dealer sent a mechanic to my house to replace the parts they had broken.

You would not mind so much if they told you they had broken the parts, and are going to replace them, but they tend to leave it for you to discover at a later date.

good points and bad points from that dealer then , they broke something but agreed to fix it , glad it turned out ok .

It pisses me off so much that these clows KNEW they had damaged something and yet sent it back anyway in the hope that you wouldn't notice.

Which dealers was this Dave?

portadown...in fairness, they seem to have done a good job otherwise for the 32k service...as i said, it cost £310, and the brake pads need changed all round...they were looking another £200 to do that...also, am going to need four new tyres soon, car insurance up next month, road tax up the month after that...it's all money. i purposely filled the washer fluid up the night before, because i knew that they would do that in the service and charge for it....for all it costs. anyway, if i hadn't have done that, i probably wouldn;t have noticed the broken surround until next time i washed the car. but, at least they are going to replace it. they must have steam cleaned the engine bay, because it is spotless now.

b****cks, i'm gonna book in for my 12k service and was planning to use them instead of the retards at Charles Hurst, I might think twice now.
First thing i'm telling whoever does it is not to put new pads in, as soon as they are needed i'll be fitting some EBCs, again a 20 min job which Renault charge through the nose for!

they were fine about it...when i left the car in with them, they give me a lift back to the house, they also collected me later when the car was ready...wouldn't get that at hursts. also, the servicing bloke was pretty dead-on...i'm not on here to bad mouth them, mistakes happen and they are decent enough to recognise an error has been made and fixing it...no arguements whatsoever. your brakes won't need changing for a bit yet...this is my first set i'm through after 36K. i phoned northdown motor factors in ards and they are doing me front and back pads for £30 and i'll fit them myself...don't ask me what brand they are, but am sure they will do rightly for the time being...probably wear a little quicker compared to standard renault pads.

You let Renault steam clean your engine bay :S
no...all i'm saying is it looks like they have steam cleaned it...the bay is spotless, no so much as a bit of dust around the shock / coil covers! i don't know what they have done, but its shining! ps, am just thinking, when fitting the accessory belt, they have probably just cleaning around the block abit.
