R14CUP on Track: Cadwell Park

Did a track day on Saturday at Cadwell. Second time I've been there. Took it reasonably steady in the morning, spent abit of time trying to learn lines and the car abit. In the afternoon I gathered quite a bit of pace and the car felt fantastic, felt really composed, but I found the weak link in the car - the tyres (that's since been resolved)

How did you get on against that porsche 944 and impreza?

I had reasonable pace - there were a couple of imprezas which I was very similiar in terms of performance.

There was a Golf GTI mk6, which was very very similiar paced.

I drive to well within my limits compared to others, I love the car too much and prefer to take it home in one piece, so if that means I'm slower around a lap, so be it.

That OEM cup spoiler really does make a massive difference to the front end. The Skoda one looks absolutely PISH by comparison.

Coilovers wise its on H&R's - never had an issue with them, handles REALLY well.

Completely agree, never been a fan of Skoda splitter doesn't look all that good. Ok, if your not a budget.

This is a Ktec Matt Carbon one, looks really good IMO, its a one piece splitter unlike the others which are all 2 piece. Most OEM looking.

Do you not find them soft or the lack of damping adjustment an issue?

I don't find them too soft at all, I'm sure there are better set ups out there AST's etc.

I'd love to be able to adjust dampening - but I can't so I don't worry about it.

My clio isn't an all out track car, it's a compromise between fast road and track car and pretty car that gets detailed at least once a fortnight, hence why I'm still running 16" Turini's, trendlines over something more 'race' etc...
