R27 price

Spec is as follows:
08 reg, red 800 miles with tints and autowipers lights.

Basically the cost is 15.5k from a dealer.

As much as I liked it, infact quite a lot, gut instinct tells me that is too much.

Thoughts?

Aye I can imagine.

AC where churning them out for 14k plus tax at the time, but they seem pricey at the moment with only a few available. May wait until the market settles. Id feel more comfortable paying circa 13k.

Just phone dealers as far as you are prepared to travel too and tell them you will buy now if u can match x ammount? You might be amazed

I'll travel anywhere for the right deal as long as its yellow, red or black. Not quite ready to sign but will be in the next 10days.

Still need to drive an R26 before making the final call.

Well I had more than the phonecall today, however, its not officially forsale yet so theres no pressure to sign on the dotted line, they want 16 for it... got a fair Px price on the 15.5k - but theres more to be had, but dont think they will go below 15k though.

Have you knocked the st thingy edition on the head ? Or still seeing what's out there ??

dunno have my reservations about the ST. Mainly surrounding the handling and how chuckable it is.

I can have a white facelift ST2 for similar kinda money as the R27. If I go for the ST thats what I will have. Still want to consider the R26 and a couple of other options inc Golf GTi and EP3 CTR Premier edition (cheaper option) Im not 100% sure tbh. lol

Your pretty vauge with your circumstances but it would seem insurance isnt a problem so if i were you id go for the CTR all day long mate, better re-sale value, build quality and itll be a better car in the long run, sure people will tell you "there common as muck" well they are because there good cars, people say they lack steering feel i beg to differ tbh!

Not saying the Focus isnt a good car i just think that the 2.5T unit thats in it would be a b*****d to feed!

The golf id never buy mate, A claimed 0-60 of 7.2? That seems slow in comparisson to the latter choices! I had an altercation with one and i tell you what, if you told me it was a GTI before i went for it i would have laughed! Not very quick for whats in paper!

If thats the type of car your into what about a Focus RS>?

All about when it's first registered... I've got an MG ZT on a '56' plate (don't ask!), only registered in Feb 07 - MG/Rover went bump like 2 years before!! :S

Circumstances are pretty vadue. lol Fuel isnt an issue, however I dont want something too thirsty. I will be covering around 20k a year and budget us around 15k. Needs to be under 5years old. Image needs to fit with a business image, so nothing that shouts out too much i,e an orange focus!

Alan was telling me that Parks in East Kilbride have a white R26 just now Ad if you're interested?

  Mondeo TXS Bardge.
also i dont know if your interested but parks motherwell have atleast 3 197s in all bout a year old and £12k, one albi blue and one red.

also i think parks in dumfemline have one of our fellow members old clio 197, red with white decals and white wheels only done 7k and they want under 13 for it, probs get it under 12 if your clever.
i dont know if you fancy saving a few grand but motherwell also have a nice blue 55 plate 225 for about £10.5 more than enough pocket change to put toward some mods ot make it R26 standard.

Or a BMW 330i

Think the F1 stickers are pretty subtle if you take the roof graphics off. Was only thinking today about the a 330Ci. But not sure that the E46 will look pretty dated then.

Yep black CTR is possibility.

Totally agree, although the 330i if memory serves thats about 237bhp, id reckon your probaly going to pay more for that than a CTR and the performance is on par anyways, id take the CTR.

Maintenance is cheaper and people wont think ur a prat lol Just kidding but unless the BMW is an M3 then it just looks like any other, plus every man and his dug has got one!

Ta, will do if I decide to have a look. Its at 12.3k on the trader which is pretty competitive. Does it have any other options other than the seats and wheels?

Yeah dont think the 330 is the way forward.

B@llsie has taken me out in the F1 197 and ST this affy, those plus the R26 and CTR will probably be the ones I choose from. Also thinking of a 147 GTA.. although thats an outside one!

Im a noob on this site mate and had my r27 for nearlly a month(it sat in my garage for the first six months) and to be honest the amount of people that have commented on the car is unreal. i had a salesman from an energy company at the door wanting to buy the dam thing and people on petrol forecourts every other day. in regards to the ST thats an awsome car and would say proberly a better car all round, i had my mates for a while as he was in america and was never away from the garage... but its some machine if i was offerd the two and had to pick one it would be the R27.. the ST is everywhere these days and really dont appeal to me anymore.. i hope this may convince you in your choice, im sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose.... Hmm 147>? I dont think it has quite the seem appeal as the CTR or R26, i dont think it would match either to be honest!

Have you driven the CTR>?

Out of all those, 147 GTA will be the fastest/rarest/most exciting :) That'd be my choice. Awesome interiors too.
