not so much of a race but i did get spanked in the biggest way by a SL55 amg last night. i have never seen anything go so quick. i kept trying and he kept playing with me, letting me catch up then gunning it again. i came up level wih him at !40 (slight downhill) and then he just went like i was standing still.

those cars are so quick, it was good to see one being driven well and making me look stupid! (not like thats hard).

If you were doing 140, he certainly wouldnt have left you like you were standing still. The Merc is limited to 155 or so. Gets there in a hurry just the same!

AMG Derestrict them as an option, top speed is approx 210mph with the restrictor removed! Animal, but then what would you expect from 490 BHP

Even restricted there is a 5% leeway 155*5% = 163mph

No defeats yet in the Willie but I did ignore the Type R scoobie the other morning as he would has killed me!

In my XR2 I got beat by a 1.7 Volvo 340!!

In my RS1800 I held off a MI16 405 Until 80 then he went past like id hit a brick wall!

In my MK2 16V Golf Gti I raced a 300+bhp Escort Cossie LOL He probably thought I wasnt racing the way he accelerated into the sunset!

its bloody 1.4 corsas that are the closest match for me atm, think i am about 9-5 with one particular oine atm. vtrs are a VERY hard fight and vts are just too much to try.

i like to race anything but like the twisty stuff more as its more skill than just power. get killed by most things in a straight line

been smoked off a 1.6 astra (new shape)

smoked the following:-

1.4 pug 206, 1.1 pug 106, 1.4 & 1.6 escorts, 1.4 golf (mkii)

my 1.2 16v is only just over a week old too!

so far, so good............so much for running it in eh!

other than that, no other races yet

Only cars that have beaten me is an Astra GSI i thought it would be a good race till i see the turbo badge on the back and the smile on his face at the lights that thing werent standard it flew.

Also leaving an m3 beemer behind then missed 5th hit 3rd used the limiter then he was gone but it was good up until 110.

both times my r5 been left and i mean left for dust, i wernt racing the cars, but i would of lost regardless,

once was a lotus carlton who was infront of me so i tried to provoke him to see all that 3.6 twin turbo in action and boy did he take the bait, mega fast,

but slow compared to the pagani zonda i saw, giving it large, and OMG what a seriously loud car, evn with the sub pumping gorgeous car, but then again the 360K price tag...............

got left behind by a BMW M5..(which i thought it would)....but he could only loose me on the straights...i caught him up on corners.......i left a guy in a alfa 2.0L twin spark at 3 sets of lights in abbey meads..took him 3 sets of lights to learn he couldnt win tho......theres a "C" reg, red pug 205 in swindon....never seen it on the road but weve had it in the garage a few times to lower it.......dont try it guys....its turboed & when i say its rapid, i mean it !......it would leave an impreza for dust !.so god knows where it would leave my 16v !

i dont usually bother tryin to race anything i know will leave me, or anything i know wouldnt stand a chance.....1.1.....1.2...1.4...etc !!.unless they provoke me !!...but anything 1.6 or above is fair game !!......I ONLY RACE ON THE TRACKS....NEVER ON THE STREET.....HONEST MR POLICE MAN/WOMAN !!!

Fatherted - no offence intended, but I think the M5 probably wasnt even trying if you could catch him on corners. I think their very quick indeed. 0-100 in 11.5 seconds....!!!!!

Your probubally right Rhys..........either that or he was too scared to put his foot down........the car was probubally worth10 times what mine is....so i cant blame him for not wanting to wreak the bloody thing !!!!

Beaten by a bmw 330 ci. Wasted me so god knows how some people claim to keep up with M3s. Ive driven an M3, it was only the 2.8, but it was very quick. Hit my limiter in 2nd racing a gt turbo and I couldnt catch him then. Beaten by an Impreza though not too sure which one. Beaten, which fu*ked me right off, by my mates audi a3 1.9tdi quattro. Its 4 wheel drive and I couldnt get through bends anywhere near as quick as him, and couldnt get near him coming out of bends cos hes got loads of torque low down. Sounds like I always lose, but ive had my wins too. Valvers are quick cars thats for sure, but the low down torque isnt there so you can badly beaten if youre not in the right gear at the right time.

The M3 comes in several varieties, none of which is a 2.8. The E30 originals were 2.3 with 600 2.5 Sport Evolutions built and the E36 ame in 3.0 and 3.2 versions. In not sure of the displacement of the current E46 but it is at least 3.2.

The 172 is a close match for the early cars especially on the twisty bits. I had a lot of fun with a 172 whilst driving my Sport Evo. The difference between FWD and RWD was really amusing in the hairpins. The 172 just hooked up an went whilst I was working my arse off quite sideways.
