Super Lap Scotland Round 1
August 2nd 2020
Mileage: 152,057
First off. We made it! From delayed starts (FU 🦠) to delayed coilovers and wrong parts being delivered it’s been amazing just to be on the grid this year at all. Thanks to everyone that’s helped out over the last week or two getting the car ready.
Coilover delay. Mostly my issue, held off ordering over lockdown and ended up clicking the order too late. Stevie McNab to the rescue. I’d had fitted new ball joints and track roads and Stevie kindly aligned it with the string to perfection 🙌.
JH worked tirelessly on Friday afternoon to fit the freshly supplied DS1.11’s and Brembo HC discs supplied by George @RTR only to be beaten by an incorrectly dispatched ABS sensor. No ABS for this round and some 50/50 braking to contend with.
Myself and cousin Mark worked until after 10pm Saturday evening to sticker the car up. The main stickers supplied by our sponsor Void Designs in Armadale and Tracktion track days for the bumpers and names/numbers. On the trailer and ready to roll for Sunday.
We arrived at the circuit just before 12. With the help of John, Mick and cousin Mark the car was off the trailer and set up. A quick bite for the lads before we were out in warm up.
WU- first time in the car with the full safety gear on went well a good 10 laps in we managed a 7th (of 10) in class with a 1.02:717.
Nerves still high we went into practice.
On lap 8 of 11 I put in a stunning lap of 1:02:135 to put myself in 4th
Felt better going into qualifying, guys had adjusted the pressures a bit to try and reduce some under steer, nerves were a lot lower. Was pushing really hard and managed on lap 10 a 1:01:914 putting me into 3rd.
The final..
Nerves well and truly back. All my fast laps are generally well into the sessions so I’ll need to work on that, 1 lap dash no room for errors. Made a few mistakes started the lap off too slow, managed to throw a semi clean lap together with a time of 1:02:809 good enough for 6th in class.
Overall I’m glad I’ve taken the step into competition, it’s a completely different buzz from my usual track day’s and can’t wait to get back to it.
Bring on the next round 22/23rd August.
Thanks to all the sponsors for all their help.

ps. The mint green isn’t a permanent feature. It didn’t turn out as I’d imagined.
