My Ph1 Gear knob in winter mode

I've just ordered the renaultsport gearknob and gaitor for my twingo, I've already been warned to get a sock ready for winter.....

Its just an iphone sock looks daft to others but they get bloody cold

How do you replace the gear knobs I have ph1 mk2 with that horrible plastic want to changE it how do I get it off and put a new one on
can some one tell me please or is there a guide
